Pros

The mandate of the organization is brilliant, as is the international presence and gravitas associated. UNICEF has the opportunity to scale-up innovative thinking and proven humanitarian and development practices even in difficult crisis circumstances to achieve meaningful socio-economic change and promotion of human rights.

Cons

The organization is ill equipped to manage crisis. Programme policy frameworks, human resource and management practices are out-dated. The culture of the organization does not foster growth of staff, knowledge sharing and building of expertise. The institutional culture is mired in bureaucratic procedures and mini-mafia's. The lack of transparency and lack of accountability for Senior and Executive management does not promote an empowered staff and is permissive to abusive behaviours.
