Pros

Good benefits package overall. No one in management has been difficult or rude.

Cons

From a veterinarian whose clinic was purchased: Corporate BS. No concern for work/life balance. Company will PROMISE not to change the culture of the clinic, raise prices, or that anything will be noticeable to the clients after transition. These are bald faced lies. Every single thing changes- starting with an insane amount of “required” online “training” that you’re expected to complete in your free time. The prices are 10-20% higher the second you switch to their software. The software (WoofWare) is awful- it takes me 3x as long to complete medical notes or look anything up. It’s glitchy and constantly crashes. Then of course, all the clients notice the change and you’re forced to either grin and cover for corporate’s butt or tell them they’re better off somewhere else. During COVID and the crazy veterinary surge, we weren’t able to regulate our own schedules leading to massive staff burnout and turnover. Corporate has NO IDEA what the front lines are like and it’s clear that they view their employees as expendable.

Pros

· I truly feel valued, respected, and appreciated for the work I do every day. · In my experience, VCA fosters a positive, non-hostile, and inclusive environment where collaboration and kindness are part of the culture. · The company’s strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is truly inspiring to me · Our Associate Resource Groups (ARGs) provide a wonderful platform to embrace, educate, share, support, and celebrate our unique backgrounds and perspectives. · It’s an ever-changing, dynamic workplace that keeps me learning, growing, and challenged in the best ways. · VCA encourages a growth and development mindset. · Fair pay and excellent benefits that genuinely support associates’ overall well-being.

Cons

· VCA is such a large and ever-evolving organization, change happens often—which can sometimes take some getting used to. · Career advancement opportunities may depend on your specific department or location. · Some systems and processes are still improving as the company continues to grow—but leadership is actively working on it.

Pros

This company offers many opportunities for doctors and techs to grow in their careers. They provide tons of support and they've been making HUGE changes to veterinary medicine on a whole. I have never known another company to offer so many benefits and perks for staff (especially techs), and they're even making lots of effort to invest in the veterinary receptionists-the front line associates of the hospital. They're also making great strides to acknowledge some of the feedback we've had for many years. They're savvy and smart, making business decisions that build on a company that will be around a long time (and has.)

Cons

There have been times where transparency and communication are lacking, and sometimes to the point where hospital-level employees feel left out or unheard. Some bigger topics like onboarding and navigating what support comes from where could be more clear. It feels like they've been fusing on new concepts/policies/features to the company, making it feel like a clunky machine rather than building something new and streamlined. Maybe it's in the works, but how do we know down here?
