Pros

VZ Business is a good place to work if you are interested in a huge company environment. The company provides good benefits, average to above average salaries, the benefits are decent, the retirement program is decent. I wouldn't say any of them are "best in class", but you could do worse. If it's important to you to work for a company with a #1 or #2 market position in most places where your employer competes, Verizon could be your cup of tea. There is safety in numbers here - if you are worried about layoffs, they have a lot of wood to chop and you could last a long time before your number gets called.

Cons

Things don't move very fast, and the management at the top doesn't seem to have a good ear to the ground to understand what the frontline employees and or the customers are saying. The biggest customers (former Global or Premier accounts) really steer the ship and product development. If you aren't working with those customers, don't expect products that can be tailored to your customers needs. Verizon does what it does pretty well, but sometimes tries to force the sales reps to sell things outside our specialties, essentially begging and/or ramming it down the customer's throat to get them to try buying from VZB.

Pros

Compensation is competitive but you will work very hard for it. Culture is excellent and exhibited and practiced from the top down. Benefits are excellent and cost reasonable. 401k match and profit sharing. Lots of training and professional development opportunities. Can advance if you're willing to relocate.

Cons

Company is trying to transform into what it wants to be beyond a wireless carrier (cloud?, security?, telematics?, wholesaler?, etc) and is struggling with a vision, resources, and org structure to make it a reality. Several re-organizations over last few years so job security has frequently been a question. Often delayed response to competitors caused by management's concern that acting would result in not meeting Wall Street expectations. Not the "happiest" place to work because no result is ever good enough and successes aren't celebrated because the focus is always on the next weekly/monthly/quarterly goal.
