Pros

Walgreen Drug Stores inc has good pay (for management). The benefits package is generally outstanding, especially the prescription insurance (we are the nation's largest pharmacy) and the 401 (k) match (no one at wag ever says 401k; it's always referred to as "profit sharing")There are fairly decent opportunities for advancement, though this can depend quite a bit on the market you work in. If you are willing to work hard and make influential friends, you will probably become a store manger someday. I personally like the variety of tasks that I get to perform at my job, butthat's just me.

Cons

The hours for salaried management can be absolutely brutal, especially as variuos holiday seasons approach. Working six long days a week is not unusual, and seems to be more and more regular the longer I work there. The lack of formal training you receive on a variety of necessary duties is a sore spot. The same job title at 2 different stores can seem to be two wildly different jobs, depending on the whims of your particular store manager. You can be transferred between stores with just days notice, even if the two stores are 30 miles apart. Unless you want to transfer to be closer to your house. Then you're out of luck.
