Free food can't compensate for toxic culture and long hours - Software Engineer 3 Walmart Global Tech Employee Review

Pros

Free Food Average Compensation Average Benefits

Cons

Both late-night and early-morning calls are expected, as if we are machines and not humans. Toxic work culture and unempathetic senior management. Cost-cutting is rampant, with employee benefits being reduced more and more every day. Work-life balance is virtually non-existent, with working hours often extending from 9 AM to 11 PM.

Pros

Good experience working on real production issues and outages. Learned a lot about debugging, monitoring, and handling incidents. Got exposure to many systems, tools, and teams.

Cons

Can be stressful during major incidents and on-call situations. A lot of support and monitoring work instead of building new things. Sometimes you find the issue but another team has to fix it.

Pros

Great scheduling flexibility, especially if you are balancing other commitments. The benefits for part-time employees are decent, and it is a good place to gain some basic customer service experience.

Cons

Management can be unorganized at times, and the workload gets heavy during peak hours and holidays. Pay could be higher considering the amount of physical work involved.
