Pros

The company used to have a strong sense of innovation and a fun work culture. Work-life balance (though this is slowly deteriorating). Decent pay, though other companies are starting to catch up.

Cons

Workiva has gone through some major shifts recently, and unfortunately, they haven’t been for the better. When I first joined, the company had a culture of collaboration and a real focus on innovation. It was a place where you felt valued, and it showed in how employees interacted with each other. Fast forward a few years, and that’s a distant memory. The biggest blow recently was the marketing department's massive layoff—this was the largest round of cuts the company has seen in years. What’s particularly frustrating is that this happened shortly after the company hired a large group of field marketers, who, despite being the most recent hires, managed to keep their jobs while others were let go. Meanwhile, employees who had been with the company for a while (mostly 35 years old+) were shown the door under the guise of "restructuring." It’s hard not to see this as a personal decision by management rather than a strategic business move. There’s also a clear pattern: the employees let go were not just senior, but seemed to be those who had been there for a while or those management had personal issues with. Management is clearly reactive, not proactive. They hire in a panic, and then when things don’t go as planned, they make drastic cuts without thinking about the long-term effects. The sense of loyalty and stability that was once a part of the company has disappeared. If you decide to work here, just know that Workiva is not a company to stay with for the long haul. They’ve made it clear that you’re a cost, not an asset. Treat it like a stepping stone and use the time to gain experience for a company that actually has your back. You won’t be retiring here, and they will likely never look out for your long-term interests.

Pros

Remote work and flexibility Size of company is great - not too big, not too small Great coworkers (aside from the leadership)

Cons

- Horrible psychological work environment. The senior leaders in my department were absolutely terrifying and incredibly nitpicky, rather than encouraging and supportive to their people. - Career growth is a joke at Workiva, and leaders make it clear by their actions (and at times, words) that it's not a priority. I remember sitting on a department call where my VP said, "Growth is not getting a promotion at Workiva," and the context in which she said it made it feel cold, patronizing, and disheartening. Departmental calls were often uncomfortable and totally deflating. - Extremely unrealistic and very subjective standards - No manager accountability - People constantly live in fear, but the work flexibility and "great place to work" facade keep employees stuck in a toxic loop - When they get the slightest whiff of unhappiness, they push you out. I've seen it time and time again (which then creates a toxic fear culture) - Constant gaslighting
