As soon as I walked in the door the president of the company started trying to sell me... And he's a GREAT salesman. I knew that selling Xerox copiers wasn't something I wanted to do going into the interview but I liked him so much that I decided to put my faith in him and accepted the job and started a week after graduating college. First of all, they will tell you that you can make $100k right out of the gate. In my time there I didn't see a single commercial sales representative even come close to that number! They'll tell you that people in the office make up to $500k but that's a few people and they are the major account holders. All of the big businesses are taken by their mid majors and major account representatives. The biggest problem with AOT though is that they're a middle man. Xerox direct (who they tell you can't touch your prospects LIE) can out price AOT on every product. It also doesn't help that every other vendor is not just cheaper but they are nationwide which takes away any prospects who are in multiple states. They sell a B.S. Speech about their "AOT 360" which is really just FM audit and isn't proprietary at all.
It wasn't just the sales process that chased me off though. It was the blatant disrespect for people. Even the top managers took place in publicly insulting employees. One of the mid major reps (who has dedicated more years to AOT than anyone because of their excessive turnover) got it the worse. As a women I was constantly sexually harassed and felt uncomfortable on a daily basis.
Beware of positive reviews... The HR department is hell bent on making AOT "best place to work in Phoenix" and tells all employees to leave positive reviews on glass door and positive feedback on surveys to help sell this sorry excuse for a company.
