Pros

The current director has dramatically improved operations by being decisive, holding employees to high standards, eliminating duplicative and non-value added work, and cultivating a positive culture within the office. She came in during go-live of Yale's ERP implementation to a notoriously difficult position and has done wonders all things considered. She is definitely a pro to this office. The individuals within the office are diverse and intelligent. Management is actively working toward improving the culture and work processes. Yale pays 10% into the retirement (5% up-front and up to another 5% match) and also includes paid paternity leave. The salary is about average, but the total compensation package value is above most other Universities in the area.

Cons

The office frequently experiences periods of short staffing but management expects the same level of output during those times. Upstream groups are not held accountable for not meeting deadlines. Often this office is blamed for the output and squeezed for time. This is a major driver of turnover but appears to be improving. I would have ranked Culture & Values 2 stars last year, but ranked 4 this year due to management's efforts. Few practical training resources, although training offered by Russell Epstein indicates improvements and more options are on the way. Paternity & maternity leave has not been updated for many years and now is average for the market (2 weeks paid Paternity, Short-term disability for Maternity which is about 10-12 weeks).
