Pros

The company culture is genuinely collaborative and people-centric. Colleagues are kind, approachable, and consistently willing to support each other, which creates a psychologically safe working environment. Excellent employee benefits, including support for continuous learning such as courses, certifications, and conferences, as well as company-sponsored international trips with all employees. Outstanding campus facilities that resemble top-tier US tech companies: lunch, gym, massage room, billiards, and well-designed workspaces that enhance productivity and well-being. Solid tooling for day-to-day work and personal development, in tech even though some legacy tools still exist. Work-life balance is generally reasonable. While there are occasionally high-pressure periods, there is flexibility afterward to compensate and recover. Hybrid working model offers flexibility and autonomy. Tech stack is modern in many areas primarily Java and React, with some Python. Engineering teams are relatively small, focused, and own clearly defined problem spaces. Strong sense of stability; many employees stay long-term due to the consistent culture and predictable environment and interesting topic to work on.

Cons

There is noticeable resistance to architectural change and experimentation with newer technologies, which can slow innovation and technical modernization. Compensation is below market average compared to similar roles, and annual salary increases are relatively modest. Career progression and promotion to the next level can be challenging, partly due to long employee tenure and limited upward positions.

Hi there! Thank you for such a thoughtful and detailed review! It's wonderful to hear that the collaborative culture, learning opportunities, campus facilities, and hybrid flexibility are all landing well. We put a lot of care into creating an environment where people can do their best work and feel supported, so this really means a lot. We also appreciate the honest feedback on the cons. On compensation, we are committed to keeping our pay structure fair and competitive, reflecting both market standards and individual performance, so that strong contributions are always recognized. We also appreciate the feedback on architectural change and career progression. Balancing stability with innovation is something we continuously think about, and we're always looking for ways to create more room for growth and experimentation. Thanks for being part of the team and we hope the journey here at trivago keeps being a great one!

Pros

- free beer, cereals, milk, coffee and other small stuff - team events where you see your managers get drunk - one trip once a year where the whole company gets drunk - average age 25

Cons

- all the above benefits mean less salary for people while trivago pays less taxes - very inexperience middle managers that treat people like monkey - no way to move up because of older employees and flat hierarchy
