63% positive business outlook
Pros
Express Solicitors offers a supportive environment for staff and highly encourages development and progression through in house Professional Support and External training. Plenty of opportunity to increase skill base and customer service skills. My own personal experiences with Management across all levels have been nothing but positive. Everyone is very approachable and happy to offer guidance. The team are friendly and supportive of one another. Additional benefits include active social calendar both within Departments and companywide, Equality Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Peer Mentoring Scheme, gym on site, close to local public transport links.
Cons
Parking is a bit of an issue, but as is the case across plenty of large businesses. There is parking local to the building a short walk away.
Pros
Big company, good for progression.
Cons
Terrible parking situation. Mediocre pay. Long hours. Very target heavy.
Pros
Some nice and friendly people work there who are always happy to have a chat and help you if they can. There are some good learning opportunities for someone at the beginning of their career. Onsite gym - not the biggest but has everything you need Great Equality and Diversity network
Cons
After three months at Express Solicitors, I was already dreading the commute to work. Not because of the workload or upcoming deadlines, but because I found the environment toxic and isolating. My manager regularly belittled me and made me feel stupid for asking questions. If you’re not one of their favourites, expect to feel excluded and unsupported. I often spoke more with other departments than my own team. I would also hear my manager talk about other team members behind their back so I can only imagine what they were saying about me. The office isn't as bad as other reviews make it out to be. You can tell the company have invested a lot of money into it and it is fit for purpose, but the parking situation is poor. You need to arrive by 7:30am at the latest to get a space. Pay isn't great, and management’s lack of trust and empathy made an already demanding job even harder. I started applying elsewhere within months as I was unable to see a future in such a negative culture.
Pros
Very supportive Lots of training provided Great colleagues
Cons
A little over micromanaged but expected in a firm that size Have to arrive super early to get parking
Pros
For all those interviewees researching their new potential employer it looks like Express Solicitors have forgotten to add in a new benefit on their job adverts! Now as well as free fruit you also will HAVE TO GET YOUR STEPS IN! because the geniuses over in the management department bought an office space with too few parking spots and then decided to stringently enforce back to work resulting in half the staff parking in the local industrial estate (10 mins walk after your commute!) and getting parking tickets. Or alternatively, you could come in 30-60 minutes early and work for them for free just to get a parking spot. 👍 Not only that, they've only recently gone and removed 10 parking spots for charging electric cars so even less space on the lot for those who can't afford an electric (99% of staff)! They have recently included a gym which is good quality and can't be ignored.
Cons
Not a competitive pay. You work 830-530 (mon - thur) and 830-5 on friday which is 4.5 extra hours per week meaning around 234 hours over a year which is ~33 working days (based on 9-5 work day) so you essentially are paid what they will say is a competitive rate for an extra months work whereas other pi firms work hours are 9-5 and often allow flexi time or more wfh days.
Pros
Excellent opportunities for progression and a solid training programme. The team are very friendly, down to earth people that will always provide me with assistance and advice should I require it. The caseload is manageable and the work is interesting.
Cons
I have experienced some parking issues as the staff car park is not very big. However, there are many nearby residential roads just a short walk from work.
Pros
Great training and progression, good supervision, disability friendly
Cons
Parking is the only issue so far
