Staggering dysfunction

Pros

Young, energetic, and enthusiastic employees. There are a lot of well-intentioned and smart individuals that work here. It's an interesting business, for the curious-type.

Cons

The dysfunction at this place is so over the top, its actually tough to adequately describe. From making code changes directly to production code during business hours, to children managers (both in physical age and maturity), to the 100% complete lack of any process whatsoever, to making mind-boggling last minute critical snap decisions, to the fact that the upper management was completely oblivious to all of this, I cannot even begin to imagine how much money this place flushes down the toilet. As for the culture? I saw madmen SCREAMING at colleagues, almost coming to blows! I saw grown men burst into tears in meetings with executive management.... on multiple occasions! I saw 80 hour work weeks. And sadly, I saw good, albeit naive, people become blinded by the utter disregard of order and predictability. The list goes on. I wanted to like it there. Part of me wanted to "save" the department from themselves, be the hero. But I could not... the culture of dysfunction was too far ingrained... and the mess that was created by then was just too much to handle. Perhaps someone else was up to the task, they've certainly changed in the last 3 years considering their staggering turnover in this department. So who knows, maybe they've turned a corner since then. I honestly hope they did.

Finally Making Some Progress?

Pros

The best thing about working here are the people, especially since some very toxic people have recently left the company! Most of the people in leadership positions have started to make some real changes in communication and we've closed a lot of new business recently. The VP's and managers are really trying to make a difference. It's not perfect and IT probably has the greatest need for improvement. The pay is not the best but you can't expect top dollar when you work for a small company. You can expect to make some really good friendships as you get to know your co-workers pretty well. The best part is that you know you are working everyday to help people less fortunate than you.

Cons

Lots of lingering bad attitudes. If you don't like working here then leave, and stop telling everyone how bad it is to work here, take your misery elsewhere, the grass is not always greener! A real issue, employees get promoted and take on additional responsibilities but it takes a very long time before their position is back filled which means lots more hours added to their day. Most managers work evenings and weekends. After several years of changing IT leadership and investment it is still a mess, technology is lagging the industry, laptops are really old, platforms are not integrated, major inefficiencies could be solved if we had better IT solutions.

We agree that the people are our greatest asset and we are working to address many of the issues you raised. We have confidence that the recent changes in IT will have positive impacts throughout the organization. While we are making many changes, not all of them may be visible or have an immediate return, somethings take longer to make a difference. We hope that your continued dedication and support of the organization will see a positive return in the next few months and continue in 2019.

Pros

Some very good and smart folks have worked for this company

Cons

Management and the board have destroyed what started out as a great idea with real potential. I spent nearly 5 years as part of the GRG team and was forced to deal with the miss-management scare away multiple potential clients, possible investment groups and high quality employees including multiple highly skilled executive level operations, finance and information technology resources. Until pushing the rock up the hill just became too much. This company is not worth your time; they are less than 1/2 of their size and revenue from where they used to operate and have wasted millions in lost projects. I suspect they are on the verge of going bankrupt as they re-organize yet again, cut jobs and probably cannot clear their external financial audit this year.
