Potential to be an amazing job the only thing missing is a compentent management team
Pros
Naturally the cars are a pro when they are of proper condition and quality. Whatever job you get there it is straight forward and you expectations are clear and simple. You should not ever be surprised in this job if you are doing it well. It is an easy job if you show up everyday and do your best.
Cons
To sum up the company: They started small in 1999 and over the last four years have gown to 17 showrooms however they have grown larger than they can manage. The people in charge of the company have no idea how to work with employees, how to run a business and just in simple conversation with them you can tell they lack the experience the professionalism to do their jobs well. They only have their positions because they are close to the owner. Management are good people and I believe they are doing their best they just don't know what they are doing. They are in their position because of seniority not because they are qualified. You will be managed over email and the occasional phone call, they use threat tactics and group accountability to try and motivate people instead of working with the small percentage of employees that are the real issue. The pay is very low. Your commission is not competitive at all and you make your money in bonuses. Only a few showrooms bonus month over month and it tends to be their larger locations. If you land in their "Tier 1" showrooms you are mostly likely to bonus and actually make decent money, but if you are in a newer or smaller location good luck. It is a consignment sales company which brings its own cons. To sum up sellers that come to this company are typically desperate because they have a car that they bought for too much want too much for it and cannot sell it on their own. Consignment shops like this are a sellers last resort, if their car was something that the public wanted then they would be able to sell it on their own. Your clients typically have cars people don't want and they want too much for it. The company tends to allows these cars to come in overpriced and then mark them up above that which puts a lot of pressure on the sales team to hit their goals. A lot of talented employees left the company in my tenure, we are talking about upper management employees not run of the mill entry level positions. That should tell you enough about the culture of the company.
