Continue readingHi there, Thank you so much for leaving feedback on our Glass Door page. We encourage open dialog with all employees and appreciate that you took the time to share about your experience. It is encouraging to see you listed challenging work as one of the pros here at Green Dot. One of our core values is to challenge ourselves and each other. It could get pretty boring to work in an environment where we were stagnant instead of always trying to improve. Our leadership team is committed to making sure our employees, and therefore our company, are successful. Thank you for recognizing their strength. You are spot on when you mentioned that one of the challenges that we have faced over the last year and a half is the number of emails and meetings. We are always learning ways to improve the experience for employees… One of the things we have been trying to drive in our culture is to be more efficient with our meetings. We have found that when we schedule mini breaks between meetings (this can be set up directly in your calendar) it really helps with the screen fatigue that we sometimes experience when we have back to back meetings. Dan sent out a note with our meetings clean up challenge where he encouraged us to think about who really needs to be in the meeting, as well as always include an agenda. Global teams have a unique opportunity to collaborate in ways that are beneficial for all time zones involved. It starts with open communication and cooperation. I’d encourage you to work with your leader to come up with a plan that is conducive to work-life harmony, where you can be productive with your offshore teammates while still maintaining your own satisfaction. Lastly, I want to let you know we realize how important recognition is. We are working on finding the best solution that helps us recognize our WFA teams. These things do take time, so please be patient with us. We value you and want to show you that in the best way, and not just throw something together that won’t last. If you have ideas that might help us move forward in any of these areas, please reach out to myself or another member of the HR team. We are here for you! Best, Amber Taylorson, HRBP

Mismanaged Projects / Slow Growth
19 Sept 2022 - Middle Management PositionRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The company has some great people who work there and are really competent (particularly at the staff level). The remote culture is very embedded into the DNA of the company and it's great for people who don't want to commute. The company has invested into technology that makes remote work pleasant and seamless. Unlimited vacation is offered to everyone, but when you're allowed to use it depends on your manager. My manager never denied any vacation request I made, so it was great.
Cons
The company received a new CEO just over 2 years ago and nearly the entire executive management team is new. They have made positive pushes in terms of company culture and flexibility, but the overall implementation of company-wide projects has been a bit of a mess. Many major initiatives have been improperly managed with completely avoidable mistakes. Additionally, from an executive standpoint, there's an attitude that if you were part of "old Green Dot" you're not part of the future of Green Dot, so a lot of your work gets ignored. The company's growth has slowed, and budget increases were small. In 2022, my team's budget was increased by 3% and in 2021, it was 0%. Notably less promotions have occurred in the past 2 years. From a career standpoint, it's hard to see yourself growing with the company.

Engineering and technology gets very little budget even though they basically run this company and it’s operations.
25 Jan 2023 - Software EngineerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Green Dot has a solid product portfolio, several products have huge potential to scale and make huge profits. Engineering teams are solid. A great stepping stone to get experience working on state of the art fintech projects, then move on to another fintech that pays engineers better.
Cons
Engineering and technology teams gets very little budget or respect even though they basically run the company and it’s operations. Engineering teams are consistently understaffed and underpaid while there is an overwhelming abundance of executives, managers and businesspeople who contribute absolutely nothing to the company. Engineers are forced to track what they do each hour of the day, so some “do nothing” program managers can run a report that serves no value besides justifying their own existence at the company. Too many “do nothing” business leeches who contribute no value to this company, not enough “doers.”
