Pros

Extensive training program, continuous improvement, with hands on and constant contact with management

Cons

Each office is a bit independent with seasoned pros who are set in their ways. HRB is trying hard to bring all people together into the cloud and cloud based product to help efficiency but seasoned folks are stubborn.

Cons

Very low payment, almost minimum salary Very hours given to work. Can't cover even the TTC cost to go there and back. Some managers show attitude before you even start to work, on the hiring process. The interview, after you have completed the course and have a good % achievement, is just to put a check mark it's done. They don't even listen to your responses.

had a great experience working at H&R Block in Nanaimo. The training provided through the H&R Block Tax Academy was extremely helpful in building my confidence and tax knowledge. The work environment was friendly, collaborative, and professional. Everyone, from front-line staff to the management team, was approachable and always willing to help. I especially appreciated how much emphasis was placed on client satisfaction and accurate service. I learned how to handle real client interactions, reconcile tax documents, and provide personalized guidance — all of which added value to my skill set. Great place to work if you’re looking to grow in the financial services or tax industry. Pros

Office lead was the best - very patient and a solid trainer/mentor; good overall team. Training program was very good.

Cons

Back office support was removed in my second year by regional management - became too much of a paper pusher. Did not appear that regional management understood the process and looked at cost in a vacuum.
