Worst work environment I've ever experienced

Pros

Their lifestyle and disease management programs are exceptional. It makes you feel good to help others and they have helped so many people change their lives.

Cons

Terrible management. The good quality that makes this company attractive, helping others, is the same quality that they capitalize on because it makes it difficult to leave. Employees are pitted against each other. Confrontational outbursts from leadership/management. Unfair pay practices. Character attacks. Work taken away or changed without notice or explanation. Bonuses and incentives offered but there's always a new reason why employees can't earn them. Distrusting environment. Employees leave often, including some with long tenures. Highly disrespectful. Poor communication among leadership and employees. Hypocritical values, ethics and morals. You go in every day not knowing what new policy may pop up or if you will be disciplined for something that was ok yesterday but not today.

Pros

Helping people live healthier lifestyle has always been important in my opinion. Every now and again you get a call from someone who has really changed their life through the lifestyle heath coaching program and it feels great to have played a role in that. And of course Dr. Gordon!

Cons

Let's just say the cons by far surpass the pros. There really is no management structure because they are always creating "new positions" for people that they know won't work under an unqualified supervisor. Some employees are expected to follow every rule/ regulation, while others get to make their own. They try to put off the "Team-oriented" feel but it's really just constant micro-management. Long-term employees aren't treated with the kindest regard. Those rules/ regulations change every other week, so you never really know what is "correct" until getting reprimanded. Certain incentives or "raises" are offered and then never actually put into play. No benefits (or so they say, but after all we are a health care company)

Do not work here

Pros

The work is important but they don't show a good example of what it's like to actually care for employee health and wellbeing

Cons

First and most importantly: they will not pay for your training and this is ILLEGAL. If you have worked here and this has happened to you I urge you to file a complaint. During the interview there were a lot of assumptions made which were discriminatory. The manager told me that most coaches work when they're sick and it was insinuated that there were no sick days because they're not necessary -- even though they are a health care company that supposedly values reducing presenteeism!
