Pros

You are able to eat for free. Home environment. You get to help those with disabilities learn new skills. Some community outings can be fun. Some of the staff are genuinely warm-hearted people who want to help others.

Cons

Aggressive clients lead to an unsafe work environment. Inadequate staff. Low wages with subpar benefits. Some staff are only there to collect a pay check and watch TV for their entire shift while other staff carry the brunt of the workload. Ineffective training. Staff do what they want which is not best for the company or clients.

Pros

I didn’t get to finish NEO so none!

Cons

Too many within the 3 days of NEO I had! If a management staff is rude to you, you’re the one they get rid of and the rude staff goes free! The behaviorist was rude to me, but I did not get to finish orientation, being told to not come back! And they actually have people purposely walking around orientation just so they can find reasons to make you not come back! Another thing that happened to me, folks reporting I’m rude and ACT like I know more than they do! Has it ever occurred to anyone there that contributing to the knowledge anyone has is a good thing not a bad thing? No one is stealing anyone’s thunder, but I suppose folks with insecurities are like that. If one has a doctorate degree, um they will know a lot, but again, if they aren’t that high up, they see you as a threat! This is a disgusting place that houses small and petty people! Oh and don’t forget the open door policy is total garbage and they are judgmental to boot!

Pros

The ability to help Developmentally Disabled individuals is the best reason to work for In-Pact. Many many people have worked there 5 years or more, some as many as 20. Other people have left In-Pact only to find that the grass was not greener and returned to stay many years. These people work in administration, group homes, and the direct care staff of supported services. Within departments co-workers are friendly and the atmosphere/culture is relaxed. The benefits package is incredible including paid vacations, holidays, personal days, and once your sick days build up to a certain level they turn into vacation days. People get along not just at work but their friendships extend beyond the workplace and socialize outside of work as well.

Cons

The Senior Management has created a hostile work environment especially targeting the Supported Services Department. The Habilitation Manager position is overloaded with responsibilities compared to other comparable positions in the field. Senior Management has used devisive tactics to pit one department against another. It is only recently that members of different departments have crossed those lines to discover the truth of the extent of the splitting tactics. It is also through these discussions that the true extent of targeted abuse by this particular senior manager toward the Supported Services Department. He uses passive aggressive language, veiled threats, as well as yelling to bully the Supported Services department. This has apparently gone on for years, as after being hired one learns that every two years there has been a complete turnover in the Habilitation Manager positions (4-5). None of the Habiliation Managers have returned so the grass must be greener somewhere else for Habiliation Managers. Efforts on the department's part to resolve this dissatisfaction with the hostile environment has only escalated the bullying behavior to the point that continued employment is not tolerable.
