Pros

Fast paced, high stakes, so much to learn. CEO is super busy and it upped my game. She is expects quality work but is kind and is someone you can bring your own feedback to. Together, we got into a rhythm that worked for us. Nobody is perfect but she really felt like she had my back. Really great MD as well!

Cons

It’s a small company and you something have to figure things out on your own. There are a lot people who have been in the mix for a long time so there are folks to ask, but I wouldn’t say it’s a place for someone who needs predictability and structure. I’d only been at big companies before and that was an adjustment. Lots of time zones to manage w a team that is everywhere.

Pros

–Amazing colleagues. Kind, values-driven, supportive and brilliant people. –Impressive client list: You get to work with a mix of foundations, social causes and large/influential companies/brands in service of social impact. –Access to leadership: The founder and CEO has done some incredible and inspiring work over the course of her career, and most anyone would have something valuable to learn from her. –High visibility: Small teams accomplishing big lifts, so you can expect to be exposed to high-level principals/clients. if you do really well, it will be noticed. –Pay and benefits are generous for a company their size. The founder and leadership team care about fair compensation and pay equity. The salaries offered are not big-corp salaries (duh), but higher than comps.

Cons

–I believe this was mentioned by another reviewer already, but this is a startup agency in high-growth mode and that comes with some challenges. Projects are often demanding with tight turnarounds/staffing/budgets. If you're cool with that, and you’re familiar with the ebbs and flows of startup culture, the rewards are plentiful — great projects, inspiring clients, fun and supportive colleagues. If you’re not, walk away. –No physical office: A “pro” for many people, but it was a “con” for me. –As with most small companies/employers, it can take a while to move up in title/role. There just aren't clear/established paths to promotion yet. That said, opportunities for growth do come in other ways.

Pros

If you're looking for a place where the common language is corporate gibberish and the values change based on feeding the bottom line, move on. Invisible Hand is not for you. If you're looking for a place where you can be your(whole)self and where your contributions actually matter - both to Invisible Hand itself and to the project you're working on - then come on in. Everyone is welcome here, and the work is meaningful, if at times intense. Invisible Hand is a scrappy, still-developing organization where folks practice what they preach and where rolling up your sleeves to pitch in where ever needed is the expectation. Sometimes that means my role doesn't fit neatly into bullet points and a static job description, but honestly, I like that. It keeps each day interesting and the good work we do makes me feel good about the time spent "at work."

Cons

Everything is fast-paced, which is to be expected at a startuo, but I was surprised at how fast everything is here. It's ok for small sprints, but it isn't sustainable for the long term. I think that's as much the clients' "fault" as it is Invisible Hand's, when the clients want deliverables, like, yesterday. I also think the historical reliance on contractors has resulted in transient processes that seem to change with whoever is in the room. Now that the organization is growing and is hiring more full-time staff and they have some key people in operational positions, I think this will improve dramatically.
