Pros
The pay was the only reason to work there.
Cons
Management is naive, uninvolved and self absorbed. There is a difference in culture between the office and manufacturing. manufacturing employees are considered inferior and their input is discounted unless their supervisor can suggest the input. two months later they are lauded for their contribution. it happens in every department. Favoritism is the manner in which promotions are awarded, and that destroys morale. mot prople are unable to find a balamce as you are always short handed, your vacation is approved only to be denied. All incentives have been stripped away. Plant accomplishments are acknowledged by an occasional pizza party and they buy dilly bars once in the summer. They do have cookout where management is forced to serve the hourly epmloyees. a company picnic at a second rate amusement park. Given the proximity to Penn State they used to hand out ticket to PSU wrestling, and basketball. But they no longer give out PSU football tickets, that is reserved for the office. Only one supervisor has any college and it shows in how they relate to their charges. Once upon a time you were awqarded stock and received twice yearly raises, as well as $100 per yray perfect attendence. anything in evcess of 19 years you received $1000 per year. that has been capped at $100 per year. you also recieved two hours pay for being on time as it was a 26 hour work week. noe its 48 hours one week and 60 the next in most cases and OT is mandatory. Shifts used to be rotational, now you are stuck on nights or days continuously, Working hours like that kill any life work balance but the office folks work 8 hour days and could care less.
