Pros

I worked for this outfit for a short stint, a little over three months. I will say that the "pro" was it was easy to get a job here. They didn't even run a background check or do an in-person interview. Also, the group of people I met were interesting.

Cons

Hard to know where to begin here. I will start out by saying that they pay the worst rates I've ever worked for, which was because I had difficulty finding work in this time interval for whatever reason and took it. Secondly, they promised benefits after 6 months and my colleagues who stayed on never got them. They had a policy that you had to clock in and out of an electronic punch clock. This was a waste of time and was unprofessional. The management team seemed out of touch with what was going on and on our contract they did not negotiate to get the client to provide us with laptops so we had to use Citrix to log in and out of the client server. Made working on simple Word document horrendous. Then our team was forced to work in a small conference room all day off the main work floor. No ventilation. They did relatively little to make you want to stay on at a contract. One of my co-workers on the contract, although a friendly guy, was an ex-con who had almost no experience as a tech writer. It was a joke.

I am sorry for your negative experience. As our company has grown and expanded over the last 2 years we have made many improvements to our offerings and our processes. To address your comments, we do run background checks, we provide benefits after 60 days of employment to eligible employees, we do provide laptops of our own to our employees when necessary, and we have updated our office space but most of our employees work from home.

Pros

-- Remote Work (with a caveat) -- Flexible Hours (with a caveat)

Cons

-- low pay -- assignments with unclear scope, pre-sales work -- not enough work at times -- shoddy health benefits -- degrading culture - the culture was very different when I joined. As time wore on the company went from a focus on delivery to a focus on making sure all hours were filled. It was touted as a family-oriented company, and lived up to it until recently. Things have shifted across the board. -- Empty promises - There were promises of a bonus structure when I got hired. I never saw a cent even though I helped grow the business. -- They will require you to train against your weaknesses. For example, I was required to build an elearning module when I had never done such a thing before. I was supposed to essentially train myself on how to do this. When it took me a great deal of time to complete even a portion of this task, I was placed on a performance improvement plan for time management. -- There is a growing culture of micromanagement.

Pros

- Remote work - Variety of projects

Cons

Vetting - Was very upfront about intermediate skills with certain apps, they hired me anyway and were then disappointed I was not expert level. Onboarding - Basically nonexistent Travel - Was not thinking this would be necessary but had to go on a spur of the moment trip (pay upfront to be reimbursed, no per diem) Ethics - Was told I was not a good fit and let go right after being propped up as SME in a dog & pony show meeting for potential clients. Very underhanded.

I am sorry for your negative experience. As our company has grown and expanded over the last 2 years we have made many improvements to our processes. To address your comments, we have and continue to make improvements to our vetting process, we have implemented an onboarding program and tool for our new hires, we outline if there is travel involved before hiring, and we do give advances and reimbursements for expenses depending on the circumstance. We do also have performance improvement programs for our employees.
