Great benefit. ESOP program is great. Great bonus based on our effort and contribution on the job so motivation is high. Great colleagues to work with. Everyone respect each other. CEO, CCO and other upper management really care about employees are plus.

Great people, Great Benefits, Great Pay, you learn a lot, can build a vast knowledge of construction since McCarthy does pretty much any type of project, a ton of opportunity to advance in the company.
Cons
Potential to have to move to other states for work, but the company does help you with that.

Pros
Heavy on Overhead, Pre-Con, & Management level staff. This can organize and prepare the operations team and craft workers to be very productive in the execution, and have a robust quality program that reduces re-work, compared to the competition. Very good benefits, most staff members that have been here for a bit are here to work together and get the project built.
Cons
McCarthy has a lot of meetings, from what I've been told by new hires, way more than competitor GC's. At a certain point, this becomes counterproductive, as weeks become longer, focus wanes, and team members begin to pay less attention during meetings and communicating with each other.

Pros
Good working environment, great benefits, ESOP, good on the job training, technology forward.
Cons
If you’re not one of the select favorites, it’s hard to climb the ladder - particularly as a female. I’ve had several female colleagues leave because they wouldn’t get promoted to the next level despite having the tenure/skill set/experience. There’s also a large disparity in quality of supervisors: During the time I’ve worked for McCarthy, I have had four supervisors - three out of four couldn’t care less about my development/ advancement. One of those three even pushed hard against the employee driving his/her own development. People skills and gender neutrality are still lacking in many instances on a global level.

Great environment to be in.
Cons
Commuting is not the best.
