Pros

- You get a lot of paid time off (PTO) and even time to volunteer (VTO). - The health insurance options are decent. - Some front office staff can work from home sometimes. - The company cares about the environment. - They invest in tech and improving their website. - There are chances to learn new skills and work with different teams to understand the promo industry better. - Sometimes they hire good people, which can strengthen work friendships.

Cons

Some serious issues need fixing. - The workplace feels pretty mediocre, and the leadership is insecure, which makes it a toxic environment where being unique isn't encouraged. Hearing "no bad vibes!" from leadership is pretty lame. - The company is family-owned, and the owners feel disconnected from the workers. For example: -- People have been fired for questionable reasons and in cruel ways (while on vacation, while in the hospital, etc.) Even if you do good work, you will always feel a target on your back. -- They keep leaders who harm the workplace until it affects profits. -- There have been a couple of large layoffs over the past few years, and lots of people have quit in that time, too. -- Customer service and art teams don’t get paid enough. Most all roles get paid on the low end, except for some Sales roles. --Working from home has been withheld from employees as punishment even if days in/out are in the contract. -- Leadership has even tried to reach out to people who they believe leave negative reviews, asking them to take them down. - Changes to how things work happen constantly, which can be confusing. While being flexible is important, good communication is often missing, and that makes it even harder to keep up. - Managers seem undertrained and sometimes act unprofessionally. Promotions often go to favorites instead of the best workers, so good managers leave. - Your workload will almost always be unsustainable and overwhelming regardless of the position or department, folks get burnt out quickly. - While you can work from home most of the time, the company invests so heavily in office space that it Ieads to unnecessary micromanagement. A big building doesn't create a healthy work environment. - While they have hired some talented people, they’ve also seen a lot of turnover in leadership roles, blowing through 2 VPs of People (HR) and 3 Sales VPs in about 2-3 years, and often ignoring employee concerns during their hiring process.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. At Merchology, we are always striving to improve and believe that thoughtful feedback plays a valuable role in that journey. While we understand that change can sometimes feel challenging, we see it as essential for growth and progress—one of our core values is to Embrace Change, which speaks to our commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability. I’d like to address a few specific points from your review to provide additional context. Regarding terminations and other significant decisions: these are made with careful consideration, and we do not make these choices lightly or in isolation. Each situation is handled thoughtfully and in alignment with our company values. Additionally, to clarify our employment practices: our team members are not on contract, and no one’s role or work arrangement is used as a punitive measure. Regarding layoffs, we want to clarify that no layoffs have occurred recently; some employees were furloughed during the early days of COVID-19, but all were invited back as circumstances allowed. We believe in a positive and collaborative work environment, and our Hybrid Work Policy is designed to support flexibility, not to be removed as consequence. We welcome ideas and input from our employees and continue to make improvements where needed. Finally, I encourage you to reach out to me directly if you would like to discuss any of these points further or share additional suggestions. Your perspective is important, and I’d value the opportunity to provide more context or address any unresolved concerns. Thank you again for your feedback, and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

-Amazing co-workers -Shout outs in weekly meetings -Company Events -Beer on Fridays -Brand discounts -Nice, clean office

Cons

- Constant changes in direction within your role without any heads up or discussion. Your role responsibilities, supervisor are subject to change in as little as 24 hours if that is what leadership and upper management decided. If any of your Feedback on these changes is negative - you will be made to feel stupid and/or accused of creating "poor morale" - You will be called family, as you are about to become a member of a very dysfunctional family where you will be gaslit, gossiped about, you will hear a whole lot of "do as I say" not as I do. - Your feedback will not be valued, it falls on deaf ears. Not a single change is made with the employees in mind, no matter how hard they try to convince you that your opinions matter. - This company is so consumed with beating their competitors that they will set unrealistic goals and put policies in place that they have not yet proven they can handle for the sake of being on par with a competitor. - A very high turnover rate, 19% as of 6 months ago which with the mass exodus they are currently experiencing has had to have increased that percentage. - More than 15 people who were at the company when I was hired are no longer there when I had left either being fired or leaving on their own account if they were smart. - Leadership of the Customer Service department talk to you like children, I think they forget these are real people who are giving their all for them and the respect is never shown or reciprocated. I, have had my confidence crushed at this job due to how small the management made me feel. - You will be overworked and underpaid. The duties and responsibilities you were hired to do will increase and change in months to come without notice or increase in compensation. - Values quantity over quality - it doesn't matter how well spoken or well written you are. If you aren't quick enough to meet their gamified KPI's, you will be reminded of it and ridiculed. - Their KPI scoring system is presented where you are able to see the numbers of other members on your team. Even though the names are blocked - it is pretty easy to assume who is who after awhile and going back to your desk knowing you had the worst numbers is soul crushing (and they have nerve to blame frustrated employees for low morale) - This is a high-school under the guise of a corporate job, you will feel like you are back in the 10th grade. Super cliquey office environment that thrives off gossip. I consider myself a resilient and thick skinned person but my mental health plummeted after working at Merchology and I warn anyone seeking a position here to apply at their own risk.

Pros

-discounts on clothing -40 hours of paid volunteer work -nice co-workers -modern office space -paid overtime

Cons

-Low pay. Annual raises are not a "thing" here. Some people have gone years without a raise or get a 50 cent raise. -Culture of fear - providing feedback that's considered "negative" will get you fired. -Poor change management and lack of transparency. -Mediocre performers with no outside work experience get promoted to management positions, which is really catching up to this company. They do NOT know what they're doing.
