I have been working at NetSuite full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Work life balance, great senior management teams.

    Cons

After Oracle acquisition, promotion has became slow. And there is no assurance for annual increase. You only get an increase if you get promoted.

I worked at NetSuite full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Recognisable and huge company name - Nice office space - Decent pay and relatively OK work-life balance - Flexible working hours, management generally doesn't micromanage if you're hitting your hours and your customers are happy with you - You'll enjoy NetSuite if you can stand mindless politics and is content over getting to leave early on days where your workload is lighter.

    Cons

    - Management prides itself on having a wonderful work culture, and how it empowers its employees to do great things at the company. However, much of this is fluff talk and employees simply felt miserable with all the overpromising that didn't result in ANYTHING. So much fluff was promised that employees just completely gave up hope of anything coming into fruition after awhile. - Promotion scheme is ridiculous.... For such a big organization, you would think that there will be more structure to how the company promotes its employees. However, employees' promotions or raises would solely depend on what upper management felt was 'deserved' by the department based on how much revenue it made that year, and not because of the merits of the employee (Referring to non-sales roles). - Management constantly tries (I think this is still happening) to find subtle ways to undercut salespeople's compensations in order to boost revenue. It is a lowly attempt and pretty appalling to witness. - Office can often feel like a highly unprofessional farmhouse (for the lack of a better word), with people randomly shouting across the room during inappropriate working hours throughout the day (this happens constantly), making it challenging to concentrate and remain efficient - Pantry is absolutely pathetic. You'll survive on a few measly biscuits and get lucky on some days with a few pieces of fruit. - Compensation offered by the company is below average as compared to other tech companies of comparable size. - Software ALWAYS had glitches. This would drive everybody crazy, as you couldn't figure out if there was something wrong with the configuration or the system. This especially tends to backfire on the team during customer demos.

    Advice to Management

Start valuing your employees better, not just via airy talks, but actually setting up proper milestones to have things happen. Stop valuing employees who come off as better talkers than others. Some employees work so hard that they find little time to engage in meaningless conversations throughout the day, and yet the ones who don't work as hard get more recognition. I understand that it is a big company and its... hard to notice everything, but please start looking beyond the surface!! Have better guidelines put into place on how consultants should work together amongst different teams, and not let people who are more 'senior' in the company dictate how to do things 'based on experience'. This would improve on efficiency and consultants can deliver more consistent experiences to customers across different projects.

I have been working at NetSuite

    Pros

You can easily pretent that you are working and nobody will ever notice.

    Cons

Everything is overrated. Any silly, minimum effort is dressed up with words like "awesome", "impact", "mission", "Agile," persona", etc just to try to make it sound important and to motivate the employees. You can spend months doing (barely) nothing. But don't worry, a powerpoint presentation will make it look great. Sometimes we wonder what do PMs and UXs do apart from overselling results. The office has grown... without any control. The great culture of the past is now lost, management doesn't know how or what to manage, Oracle's acquisition made things even more boring and slow. They thought that having an office at Torre Agbar would make them stand out, but hey, there are tons of IT companies with much better offices. Oracle wasted a LOT of money buying super expensive ugly corporate furniture that nobody is using! No, really, there are some "collaboration areas" with fancy sofas and chairs that are so ugly that nobody is even sitting on them. On the other hand, everybody is complaining about low salaries. We have always been discouraged to work from home, while management is never at the office. Some of the best team members left, people's motivation got even lower and the management thought that a team building activity would solve that. I am thinking of leaving as well. A lot of my colleagues think the same. It feels like a waste of time. But don't worry, the Oracle logo looks great on the LinkedIn profile.

    Advice to Management

We use to be a very cool team and office and now we are a group of non modivated, under-perfmormant employees that stay there cause life is easy. Hiring only junior people to keep salaries super low is not the best solution. Management has grown thanks to the efforts of individuals, but then they forgot about them. The current management team is not inspiring at all. I really don't know if there is a way back...

I worked at NetSuite full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Decent pay for new grads -Paid overtime -A handful of great mentors

    Cons

-Underpaid given the level of responsibility placed on consultants. Older consultants can make over $100k but the younger consultants are consistently praised as some of the best consultants at the company. -The Analyst Development Program is not as organized as they make it out to be during the hiring process. Promotions are often based on subjective measures, things that are out of a consultant's control, or... whatever freezes Oracle may place on promotions. -This company is heavy on personality culture and hard work is not recognized. -Some managers have over 150 direct reports. As a result, some management responsibilities like giving feedback are outsourced to other employees. -There are very few opportunities to move horizontally within the company.
