Pros
Rosie the Barista is lovely and always up for a chat. You will form friendships that you wouldn't anywhere else (trauma, its due to the trauma).
Cons
Do not work here if you have any ANY mental health concerns. Even ones you aren't aware of. Working here will make them worse. Do not work here if you are female. You will either be ignored (boys club) or sexually harassed. Speaking of sexual harassment, it will be ignored -no matter who you raise it to, internally AND externally- and if you are a victim of it, you will either be expected to work with your harasser -but not directly, so that’s ok, right?-, or be forced out -but not fired, so it came down to your choice-. There is no in between. Think you are ok if you have a female manager? Nope, that's just a different kind of harassment, that includes gaslighting and bullying. Both of which are ignored too. Expect to be worked to the bone. You WILL be expected to come in early, and stay back late, as well as likely work through your breaks. This is expected, not a one off. You might get a thank you, but very likely not, and you definitely won’t get paid for your extra time (do not even expect it come bonus time, because working back was a “choice”). Do not create bonds with anyone, this will be used against you and management will attempt to play you off one another. HR or as they like to call themselves “People & Culture”. They have neither the people or the culture in mind. They will break confidentially, they will tell you that any issue you have is ‘just a misunderstanding’, they will “ask” permission to contact your doctor directly even though there is no need apart from trying to bully you about private medical issues. You may also be lucky enough to hear about your problem that you came to them with, through the grapevine, but not with any names attached, of course. That’s the privacy line. The problems are never resolved, and sometimes not even hidden, they are just ignored until the complainant either leaves or just accepts it. At best, they are incompetent. At worst, they are complicit. Either way, they ALL need to be replaced. Ever had a recruiter laugh about how it’s common knowledge, that OFX pays so little in the finance sector? I have. Conclusion - if you want to be overworked, underpaid, under appreciated (unless you are in the boys club of corporate), harassed, never really able to take any steps in your career (because who would cover your work, while you are attempting to learn more?), and just generally treated like you are nothing, you are in for a treat. I am not someone who generally writes reviews, and never ever a negative review, but I am more than a year out of working at OFX and I am still dealing with the ramifications, on my mental health, and physical health, let alone my career prospects, and its not because I was or am a bad worker. People currently from OFX still reach out to me to ask for advice as somehow the real reason I left got out too. Shock. Have a look at the replies to these comments from OFX. They never seem to be able to reply to the negative ones, because then they would have to lie and they know it.
