    I worked at Optus full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Apart from the obvious such as generous parental leave, childcare centre downstairs, major discounts to phone plans and NBN plans, gigantic campus with cafes and many facilities, people I worked with were generally smart, diligent and passionate. Company does attract intelligent employees. CEO Allen Liew does try hard and is well liked.

    Cons

    Company is cost cutting and yearly restructures are not uncommon. Many smart people have lost jobs, leaving people behind swamped with extra work and low morale. Senior management sometimes doesnt communicate very well to staff esp major announcements and doesnt understand why employee engagement score is so low and doesnt do that much to improve it.     Advice to Management

    Senior management need to agree on a strategy together and see if through. Changing strategies every year it seems, causing confusion. Occasionally communication is not great, delayed or not communicated in full. Optus is losing good staff

    Great campus, Friendly colleagues, excellent transport options

    Cons

    Laptops are locked down and prevent any sort of custom software being installed. Many processes still managed through emailing spreadsheets.

    Flexible work hours, friendly environment, great campus.

    Cons

    Work is a little bit boring sometimes, If you are a telco engineer it may not be a very secure job. (This is not optus fault, alot of factors are beyond their control.)
