Pros
Really smart people at the company to learn from. Get introduced to fixed income in the industry and the expertise pimco has in managing it. The compensation is decent but it is used as a tool to distract from the horrid culture you’re subjected to.
Cons
Everything else. Incredibly cold and toxic work culture. No one will say hi to you or help you when you go through onboarding. Onboarding doesn’t exist, you just watch a series of pre-recorded videos on strategies, most of which aren’t applicable in your day to day responsibilities as a sales associate. You are reduced to the number of calls you can put up in a day, they do not care about anything else that you offer. Management needs to be flushed out, there are managers who will willingly jeopardize your ability to be promoted. There needs to be proper sales training and an inclusive environment where it’s not how much you can outsmart someone with bond math but rather create meaningful relationships in the industry. Their investment philosophy doesn’t align with their actual investment approach (long term philosophy, tactical approach).

14 Nov 2022 - Administrative Assistant in SingaporeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Pays extremely well. Great staff benefits.
Cons
Was ostracized and bullied by the other administrative assistants despite various efforts on my part to build relationship with them. Was instructed to learn the ropes from them but there was no proper guidance on job scope and left to figure things out on my own. When I asked for help, they are condescending and superficial. Purposely left me out of group tasks that were assigned to all the assistants as a whole (such as gearing up for the major office move) but they reported to management that they have completed them (without inputs from me). One of the assistants deliberately spread untruths about me and when called out, claimed that she was "only joking". Another older assistant tried to mediate and explained that "she always speaks without thinking". Very obvious that she is trying to sweep the issue under the carpet and protect her colleague. I left after 11 months as the whole experience is too traumatic and distressing. This is not worth the amount of money they are paying me for.

19 Nov 2022 - Product Analyst in Newport Beach, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Looks good on resume (are they still relevant? haha, their importance is fading)
Cons
If you like waking up with dread and constantly existing in it, this is the place for you. VPs/SVPs get off making you uncomfortable and micromanaging every bit of the work you do. Learning curve stagnates for the associate program as you mostly do monkey work. The culture is very show face, white & fratty. Not many women here and it shows in how ignorant the men are. Teams hate each other and constantly whine and bad-mouth each other. And this is just scratching the surface lollll

Behind the curve
20 Jan 2023 - Senior Portfolio Manager in London, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Open information and continual hiring of new people helps to change the dysfunctional environment
Cons
Retaliation and intimidation is common from managers to subordinates, competitive to a fault within teams leads to less productivity and lower performance, and a lack of ownership/accountability is apparent as numbers don’t always speak for themselves when you control the narrative

Incredibly smart and ambitious coworkers
Cons
Awful work culture. Micromanage is out of control - boiler room type environment. No flexibility in work schedule. Some good managers but overall upper management has turned this place into somewhere you go learn and leave quickly before you eventually burnout. Dials, point system, what time you get in the office is all monitored. Previous head of department that switched roles is sorely missed.
