Pointman welcomes all feedback from current and former employees, even when it is negative, and we are constantly seeking ways to improve. However, in this case, we strongly contest that the above information is false and misleading and the statements made regarding the status of several former or current employees are inaccurate. The legal case referenced above was thoroughly investigated by the NYS Division of Human Rights and dismissed for showing no probable cause of any unlawful discrimination or harassment. As a company, we remain committed to honoring the value of a diverse workforce. Pointman does not discriminate against employees, clients, or partners on the basis of gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other protected class and we do not tolerate sexual harassment, discrimination, or retaliation against any employee. Best wishes to this reviewer on behalf of the Pointman team, Deb Spearing Vice President of Human Resources

Pros

On the surface they seem like a warm inviting family, welcoming you to join an awesome team full of amazing people, and a good hearted atmosphere. They always seem to have a job opening.

Cons

It's a completely toxic work environment, full of empty promises all the time. It's an extremely two faced work environment. You will never know what to expect on a given day. There are long meetings, expectations of working well over 8 hours a day, changing business models and plans. Employees seem to be let go like its nothing including management. The company will consume you and your free time. Communication is always lacking, you never know whats going on. Uses slack for almost all communication so information is constantly lost.

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed in us. We'd love to hear from you directly so we can help improve your experience. Rapid change in a young company happens and its difficult to keep everyone in the loop. We are striving to do better with communication and want to hear the good, the bad and ugly from our employees so we can keep adjusting positively and ensure everyone feels valued. Please reach out to your direct manager, Deb, Dave or Steve - we want to do better and we want to hear from you.

Pros

Work/life balance, work from home abilities, flexibility to work around emergency needs within your family. Laidback dress code. Ability to work in multiple spaces throughout the office so there is no stagnant feeling of a cubical. Fellow employees that are always there to support and encourage you. As an SDR, as long as you are motivated and driven, you will succeed. Dials are the most important thing you can do to get your sets and earn your commission. As an AE, you will need to do a large amount of prospecting similar to an AE, until Pointman is a known brand. Until then, you have a position that reflects the duties of an SDR but without being paid a commission until a deal is closed. When a deal DOES close, the commission plan is one that can allow you to earn a potentially decent salary.

Cons

Upper management can be extremely negative which means a continuous feeling of misery to the organization. Although Pointman is not a startup and has been around for a number of years, it has a start-up feel in brand awareness. We are just getting our feet wet within the marketplace, and until we have more brand awareness, sales will be the driving force to our name. Unfortunately, that can bring upon a very slow-moving sales cycle which means a commission plan is almost impossible to hit. Base salary will be your only income for a bit, but eventually, it will go up, which comes with brand recognition. Low room to grow within the organization at this time. Your opinions can feel as though they do not matter, and upper management will do what they want instead of listening to those around them. Things are CONSTANTLY changing and there is no communication to other teams about these items. Employee training is non-existent.

Thank you for your thoughtful review and advice. I think you've hit it on the head in that we are in a start-up mode. In that mode especially in sales we all are prospecting new customers and will be for some time. We appreciate your advice on the perceived negative attitudes of some managers. We'll bring this to their attention and will take it to heart and try to be more positive. But, we're human and have lives outside of work, too. It might be something entirely unrelated to Pointman or if it is, maybe you can help. We are all in this together and we need each other to help us stay positive. In just 8 months we have doubled in size, which means that the vast majority of employees haven't been with Pointman for even a year. "Dead weight" seems harsh for anyone so new to their role. It takes time and some longer than others to find success. We want to be fair and coach everyone to be successful. I'm sure that a struggling employee would be very open to hearing how you've reached success. Why not offer to help them? Maybe your advice will be what they need to figure things out. Our rebranding to PACT was a huge move and the right one for Pointman. We will win with the PACT model and we've set ourselves above our competitors with the addition of business consulting, analysis and community because we know that software isn't enough. We've also already won by having employees like you who take the time to be honest, open and help us improve. Keep up the great work and thanks, again!
