Great opportunity to work on high-reliability aerospace components, hands-on experience with industry standards, and room for professional development.
Cons
Limited structured training for new hires, the engineering department is poorly managed and not a place I’d recommend working under, and internal communication could be more consistent across teams. I worked in space manufacturing
The poway team are great nice people.
Very smart people working here.
The work pacing generally keeps on track for 40 hours a week not more.
Procedures and processes are in place and followed.
There are no large technical gaps or messes that need cleaning up.
Time off requests are generally granted without issue.
The same for sick time.
The micro will grant you good raises.
Cons
Beware there is micromanagement here.
If you eat your food in this small office your meal will be scrutinized for how healthy it is by the micromanager. Which can lead into awkward and extremely strange conversations. Many people avoid eating in the office to avoid scrutiny.
There is pressure to socialize with the micro manager when you may not want to.
There is a tendency for the micro to not acknowledge anything you have acceled at. Because if you figured out something before them it makes them look inadequate (in their view).
The micro will want to understand every aspect of your thought process regardless of years of experience on any topic.
The micro will not understand when you explain there is no need to be a micro.
You will not get a office in which you can close your door and get away from the micro.
You will be packed in close physically to the micro. The micro does not have soft skills and will cross boundaries constantly.
If you can put up with this kind of micro - this is a great job!
