Pros

There was once a lot of opportunities

Cons

RigUp has never been a people-first organization and when crisis hit, naturally they were the first to go. Even with a 300M funding round, the business spent money frivolously and didn't have a lick of runway. There were never any budgets and the C-level team has been extremely arrogant in their spending and it's coming back to bite them. If the company can ever recover from this, I would highly discourage anyone from working at RigUp. It has a terrible culture led by immature, inexperienced leaders.

Pros

Fast growing and hard charging business on a mission to bring technology to underserved industries from energy to construction. In my 2 years here, I learned a decade's worth of skills.

Cons

I was hesitant to write this post but I think there are a lot of misrepresentations that have been said about RigUp following layoffs the company did as a result of Covid19. RigUp is what I call a "real world" economy business. The company's marketplace lets businesses from construction to energy put together crews of workers for various projects. Due to the pandemic, business was impacted and so the company made a hard decision to lay people off. They had to do it over video because there was a stay at home order and likely in person meetings at the office would have contributed to more virus spread! Secondly, the layoffs sucked. I know. I was impacted. Yet I am thankful for the experience there. The business is fast growing and intense and challenging. In my 2 years there I gained 10 years of experience. I think there are a lot of people who are angry and frustrated. The truth is the company treated us really well. Sometimes too well and that likely led to entitlement problems. I have friends that have been let go at other companies in Austin recently. RigUp's severance was so much better than theirs. Even on our way out, they took care of us. Is the company perfect? No. Is the company well intentioned and caring of the employees? Without a doubt. Yes.

Pros

hard to say, since the company is basically back to stage 0 since oil & gas has become irrelevant.

Cons

during my short time here, I noticed that this was really not a modern tech company as they claim to be. Although they are building tools for their industry, almost 95% of their operations depend on terrible, outdated processes.
