Pros

Some of my colleagues are extraordinarily smart and talented

Cons

Pretty much everything. They fire people like flies. A colleague who had been a part of the company for years was just let go, and I only found out because I didn't see them on skype anymore. I had been chatting with them earlier in the morning, and suddenly their account was gone...taken off everything in a split second, and they do this with everyone they let go. Seems like they don't get any notice at all. We work with some amazing clients and have a strong team, but the culture and ego of the CEO/executive staff make it miserable. I love my direct team and admit I have learned a LOT, but only because I was thrown in and had to quickly learn how to do more than my job description to feel like I wouldn't get fired, as training does NOT exist here. I repeat, there is no method of training or mentoring, and you never know who to ask for help. This is something my colleagues and I agree on, at least those who have been here for a couple years. It's kind of a joke, but it's painful to watch how much new staff members struggle, especially since we're not saving lives here or anything! Is the struggle worth it? I don't think so... It's a horizontal structure. Some individuals even have multiple titles, like the COO, who is also HR, who is also staffing, who is also accounting....if you have a problem in accounting, and report it to HR, it's the same person. If you're looking for due compensation, work life balance, and an organized operations model, look elsewhere. Additionally, my pay as an associate (which is not an accurate title as I do what Managers do half the time) is much lower than people I know in similar roles at other agencies. I've been looking for another place to work since I came on board. Beware!

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for sharing your thoughts from your time at Shapiro+Raj. While we understand your concerns, we must ensure that the correct information is being shared. Our organization, like many others, was economically affected by COVID-19. Through the peak of the struggles, we did not conduct layoffs or salary cuts for any employee. In 2020, only a few employees were terminated due to other reasons specific to their role within the firm. As you can understand, it does not make sense to publicly announce or provide advanced notice to those being terminated before the unfortunate conversation occurs. The organization provides every team member the opportunity to be successful. While your role at the organization was unique, we worked diligently to provide you clarity when you sought it and gave you chances to play different roles to ensure you remained gainfully employed. While we are not an organization of hundreds of people with multiple department leads, those who wear various hats honor their roles and execute their duties with the highest regard. As a now-former employee, we wish you the best of luck on your next endeavor.

Pros

Does a paycheck count, I'd pass.

Cons

Toxic work culture. CEO is a narcissist who plays favorites with one person only, his right hand man who gets a pay raise and new title every few months. He is the only person to win an award three times. People work 60+ hours/ week but it's never enough. There's a handful of people at the top who make $200k+ / year while everyone else kills themselves for entry level pay. CEO & his lackey literally live like rockstars and everyone else experiences this strenuous, toxic environment. Don't waste brain cells or years of your life here. Work life balance is non-existent.
