Avoid Working Here

Pros

The people who work here are wonderful people. They are caring, passionate about the Somatic approach to trauma healing, and will try to make you feel welcome, although it is often in misguided ways. The pay is above average for customer service reps. The benefits package is extremely generous. Flexible working arrangements (such as work from home) makes it easy to adapt to real life.

Cons

The entire organization is in shambles. Over the last 18 years, they have had 15 Executive directors. There is no structural organization. Every proceedure is inefficient. The management is non-existant. The Directors are completely disconnected from the every day workers. They recognize the issues in their systems and yet will not take steps to make changes. Employees at every level claim they do not know their own roles within the organization. Roles and responsibilities change frequently, and often without notice or training, and sometimes without consent of the employees.

Company has no direction

Pros

The office environment and community are amazing. Everyone believes in this modality and it's power to work.

Cons

The organization is lost in it's history and lack of true leadership. Currently, they have a board that is also the executive director and taking an enormous salary. None of the paid board members have nonprofit, business or organizational skills. Lots of big ideas with no attention on the reality of how to get there. Board members are meddlesome and disrespectful to the office staff and faculty that are in the trenches and do actual day to day work.

Pros

PTO was good, remote work was awesome, the majority of people are kind and helpful.

Cons

They call themselves a non profit but are more interested in making money then the wellbeing of their employees or being customer conscious. They call themselves healers of trauma but the amount of trauma and stress I gained from working here almost made me break. They rack up fees and prices on a constant basis causing issues with the community. Refuse to listen to anybody working beneath director status about ideas to fix the front line work. The financial decisions they have made in the last 2 years has caused not one employee to get raises and they were laying people off in December 2022. They hire incompetent people to leadership roles, including directors. It's a giant mess with no real direction or organization. You also will NEVER be promoted as there is no way to move up. You will have the work of 5 different people with strict deadlines and no understanding. You'll have to deal with unprofessional conduct made by the students on a constant basis, and you'll get burnt out within 2 weeks. And nobody will care otlr help, they only care about the work.
