Toxic culture.

Pros

Good benefits. HR and senior execs care about diversity and inclusion. They have a vision for how to move the company forward and grow market share.

Cons

Some recent hires were not skilled. I voted down a job candidate and the director hired him anyway saying we need headcount. That new hire made bugs that others had to fix. Chaotic engineering culture. Product managers and directors kept changing priorities. Never thought senior managers, directors, and senior execs really cared about employees as persons. There were turf battles between different engineering teams. Also turf battles between engineering and product. Product managers sometimes just through requirements at engineering teams without even trying to collaborate. It was as if they treated engineers as black boxes that turned requirements into finished products. Some of their requirements were not realistic. Engineering teams are separate from each other. People who tried to improve things got yelled at.

Pros

Their are some smart and passionate people at the company. Every last Friday is given off for mental health. Generous reimbursement of healthy food, Internet and phone.

Cons

Company has made a lot of bad bets resulting in a 25% layoff and additional departures. Almost a third the company is gone. Upper management doesn't make decisions based on data and have mostly kept the same course and style of decision making that landed them in the uncomfortable market position they're in. Horrible HR team.

Some people are great, not many.

Cons

The company has a toxic work culture that allows drinking on the job, sexual harassment, and even discrimination. I have never seen a company unwilling to take a hard stance against its management team even when indisputable evidence is presented. The fact your manager over the Phoenix market is still there doing these harmful things is shocking.
