Pros

ICs/colleagues were nice to work with Product was good and C-level seemed to be in-tune with what is needed to be a successful company

Cons

Beware of the “old guard” of employees that have been here for a long time, they are toxic and only want to protect themselves from being exposed as incompetent (not all, but a sizable number of them). Don’t think that because you are experienced and can provide a new perspective/direction that you will be taken seriously, expect to be gaslit and treated like a toddler. Lots of favoritism here among middle managers and tenured employees, and unfortunately, too much power is given to those that aren’t qualified just because they have been at Splashtop their whole career. Small chance of getting any actual career growth here if you want to work in CS. If you love multiple 30/45 minute meetings a week that could have been an email, then this is the place for you. Also, beware of fake/overly positive reviews you read on Glassdoor, they come from the same people that will make your role/life miserable.

Pros

The people are great- very helpful and friendly. The product is great, works well, easy to use.

Cons

Low salary, standard benefits. Interesting that a company that sells remote access solutions isn’t remote itself, seems hypocritical. Also doesn’t seem to know how to scale effectively- communication across departments is lacking despite being in business for over a decade. Company doesn’t seem to genuinely value employees.

Pros

While the company struggles with a lack of effective leadership and management, one positive aspect worth noting is the nature of its products. Despite the challenges in the organization's hierarchy, Splashtop's products continue to demonstrate versatility and reliability, providing users with valuable tools for remote access and support. However, it's clear that without significant improvements in leadership and management, the full potential of these products may not be realized.

Cons

The company's management has been a significant hindrance to its growth and success. Despite being a 20-year-old startup, the company has consistently lacked effective leadership beyond the CEO. While the CEO's efforts to transition the company into a proper corporation are commendable, they face formidable obstacles from within. The entrenched 'inner circle of power' within the company's leadership has perpetuated a culture of nepotism and incompetence. Managers appointed from within this group often lack the necessary leadership skills, strategic vision, and understanding of the business to drive meaningful progress. This failure of leadership has resulted in the loss of numerous talented individuals who could have contributed significantly to the company's growth. Furthermore, the insular nature of this 'inner circle of power' has created barriers for those outside it, stifling innovation and preventing fresh perspectives from entering the decision-making process. As a result, the company remains trapped in a dead-end of its own making, unable to realize its full potential. It's evident that the CEO is facing an uphill battle in efforts to steer the company toward success. However, until the management addresses the systemic issues within the organization and fosters a culture of meritocracy and accountability, the company will continue to struggle to transition from a family business to a proper corporation.
