Well, here's the thing: SI is essentially a reality TV show, this place is full of politics, bad natured people, and not to forget causal sexism and harassment.
During my time at SI, I was subjected to several incidents of harassment, when complained to the management (HR) or the CBO/CEO himself, no action was taken.
Work-wise the place is quite decent if you are working on either of the top clients, if you land somewhere in between, your life is floating around the place like wreckage of a crashed plane. No resources (creative or video) will be provided to you, you will be all on your own.
There is a never ending, underlying rivalry between the senior management, everyone is pretending to be nice while trying to take each other down. There is a lot of politics in place and if you fall in the wrong side of the line, you can bid your career goodbye.
Culture wise the company tries to hide its flaw by maintaining a well portrayed facade by hosting multiple townhalls and the famous (or infamous) SI Games, this right here is an epitome of sexism. HR/Team leads will constantly put the women down and hype up the men who may or may not be good at the games!
Let's come down to promotions, even with promotions and increment, if you are good with your boss, despite of being a lousy employee, you will be promoted in 1 year's time, cajolery goes a long way in this organization, especially with the senior manager. Everyone else are spectators in the lot.
In closing, my advice to all the young, first jobbers looking to join this organization because they are passionate about sports, please remember, your passion is going to be your biggest weakness in the time that you will be with SI and within not even 6 months of being at the company. Remember, HR, employees, management are not your friend, while working at SI, please keep to yourself and never trust anyone else. Other than that, all the best!
