Amazing Experience and Team!

Pros

Stellar is an amazing organization that cares deeply about its employees, their growth, job satisfaction, and overall happiness. I had the opportunity to work with leadership across several different functions; all were incredibly smart colleagues who are passionate about healthcare and VBC. The People team truly values employee feedback and continually strives to implement positive changes, such as coworking stipends, gym discounts, and growth/educational opportunities. This is a company that genuinely cares about both its employees and its mission. I had an amazing experience and am grateful I was part of the team!

Cons

I don't have any cons about my experience.

Great career and learning opportunity with subpar leadership

Pros

-Opportunity to do a lot and learn a lot - yes it's a lot of work but it was a great resume builder -Genuinely enjoyed working with my colleagues and had the chance to interact with many teams -Good perks

Cons

-Culture can be a stereotypical start up vibe where it seems like everyone's social lives revolve around colleagues -Leadership seems to legit be spiraling since q3/q4 of 2022. No actual transparency of what led to eventual mass layoff in January along with frequent one off quiet departures. -Excuse of "we're a start up" overused - it's not normal to get rid of 3 C-suite employees within a year. -From my personal experience on my team which was quite lean, I was not set up for success to grow into my role, and I didn't feel that my efforts to drive a critical function of the business until the rest of my team - including my manager was taken into account during layoffs. My manager knew just as much if not less about the subject matter of my role and the onus of driving this particular function fell to me without any real direction or support.

Pros

Stellar is one of the best companies I have worked for in the startup space. We are growing quickly and employees need to wear a lot of different hats and balance a lot of priorities (outside of your normal work, it seems like everyone has 2-3 interviews per week on their calendars, there are manager training programs, onboarding programs, team events, etc.) But with this growth comes a lot of learning opportunities. C suite has remained transparent despite our growth, we have a great mission (changing the way healthcare is delivered!). Even with the last few weird years of COVID, WFH, and everything else that has been going on we've built a great team and inclusive, caring culture. I'm very proud to work for Stellar!

Cons

Stellar is still in startup mode, meaning longer hours that are sometimes unpredictable given what is happening in a given week. As an employee, you have to be really disciplined when it comes to walking away from your laptop and leaving projects or emails to the following day. Rapid change is hard, sometimes priorities and deliverables can change and you have to adjust.

Cons

- Occasional high-pressure situations - Limited training or professional development opportunities - A few departments don’t have leveling guidelines. Not sure how they can be properly assessed come performance review time.

Great company needs to pay more

Pros

Wonderful opportunity to learn new skills and grow and as a developer. I have been able to heavily influence the type of projects I work on allowing me to learn new skills that match my interests. I cannot stress that enough.

Cons

Stock options are abysmal. They seem really thin on the total compensation. Relying heavily on the moral argument of working for a company that is trying to make the world a better place to justify lower compensation. It keeps me going for a while but it won't keep me long long term.
