Pros

Our Business Model was Different: End Customers First Our Products were technological firsts in the industry, too many to name Our Customer Service was number one and answered in Engish or Spanish Our Operations were honed, noted by world class uptime and people that took responsibility for their work. Our Marketing was cool and bright, but more importantly human, we knew who we served.

Cons

Telmate was bought. Hopfully, new merged company will keep the Telmate Edge and more importantly be oreinted customer first and in the field and not the office. Very driven business so if someone could not handle work first, life second they were not as rewarded and ofter just not a fit.

Pros

Telmate was doing really innovative things in the jail video visitation industry while I was there--looking to use their custom-made, in-house designed video conferencing units to deliver entertainment, education, and other things to help inmates with their growth.

Cons

While I was there, the management structure was toxic, and suffered from multiple cases of nepotism.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review; It sounds like you did not have a positive experience with Telmate. On the positive side, I am very excited about some of the innovative things that we are working on for the future. I recently outlined our 18 month roadmap to the company and many of us are looking forward to the technical challenges. I also agree that there needs to be improvement across the board - from the management team and down. We are working every day to improve all aspects of the company. I am also a strong believer on hiring people based on skills and experience. (We will not succeed otherwise. Plus I want to work with the best peers and employees that I can.) We recently introduced a new career ladder with strong expectations of each role with regards to expectations and advancement. Also our new hiring rubric is allowing us to base hiring decisions on quantitive vs. qualitative measures.

Pros

Plenty of snacks and food

Cons

-no leadership -no accountability if you are an employee/ friend of the owners -no review consistency -the higher up, the less accountability -most sleazy business model in the SF bay area -Telmate has tried to fill glass door with ENTIRELY fake company reviews, this was a directive of someone new. What could be more sleazy--oh, the very business model the company is predicated upon. Charging the poorest Americans the highest allowable phone rates to speak to their relatives/loved ones who are incarcerated. Talk about bad karma...is this really what a moral employee wants to work on? Answer NO! Only immoral or oblivious employees stay here, and most of them know the owners.
