Work here if you want to hate your life.

Pros

None come to mind honestly.

Cons

You're expected to work here every day from 10am - 7, 8pm. Management will never directly tell you this to your face but if you don't, you're looked down upon. And since this is a small company, the work load is intensive, so be prepared to stay late anyways. You won't be appreciated. Management will take their stress out on you. HR doesn't exist so good luck.

Pros

Editorial staff is great, Peter is great

Cons

There is an unfriendly coldness with some of the upper management here. The head of publicity was deliberately cruel and unfriendly. She once dropped an empty cardboard box on my desk and told me to “break it down and throw it away,” a strange, deliberate power move to let me know my “place” as an intern.

Pros

-staff are really cool and dedicated -they publish books that deserve to exist -you get such a great education in publishing cause you’re exposed and work with every single department

Cons

-not enough staff for the massive workloads, so you get no support -micromanaging is RAMPANT -pay isnt enough as with most indies -promotions dont mean much cause you just have to keep doing all the work you were already doing, plus more its a company that is constantly trying to punch above its weight, and the staff suffer for it in terms of workload/pay/support. its common for everyonet to be doing three jobs at once -- the company basically only continues to exist because of that exploitation
