Pros
As a lateral hire from another firm, I was hesitant to join a boutique like The Fitzpatrick Group because they lack the brand recognition I had at my previous employer, but I am really glad that I decided to make the switch. They aren't perfect, but they don't pretend to be, either. It's a small firm that is growing rapidly because they do things well, they act with the best interests of clients at the core of their recommendations, and they help educate clients and employees about the truths (e.g., financial math & relevant tax law) of financial advice.
Tehrrek, Ryan, Peter, and the rest of the leadership team conducts an excellent training and development program that shows you how the watch is made and empowers you with the tools of our trade in a way that I didn't experience at previous brokers. I feel confident that my work matters and that the people I work with are seeking to serve and impact our community.
Cons
Training could be even more beneficial if the materials were updated and refined. It would be helpful to have some "how to run the business" coaching and one-on-one time before/after hours for brand new reps and new hires with limited previous experience. The office space itself is uninspiring--and quite hot on warm days--but hopefully those issues are solved soon as it is being renovated this summer.
