Good Mission, Not a Great Work Environment

Pros

Very mission driven. Heavy focus on the students and getting them through graduation.

Cons

Promises of change and wanting to better other departments with no movement. The President has final say on absolutely everything and is not willing to loosen the reigns at all. Not open to new ideas or technology updates. Multiple times I was told to look into a project to be then turned down immediately without given a reason why. Staff that cause problems are still employed while better staff is leaving. There is a very very high turn over rate, and HR is fully aware of this issue. I was given additional responsibilities and when I asked to be compensated for them, I was told there is not money to do so. However, when I put in my notice, the first question to me was, "is there any amount of money we can give you to stay". Until the President leaves, there will be no major changes.

Pros

The students are great and excited to learn and work hard.

Cons

This place is micromanaged. Most departments are completely understaffed and employees are very unappreciated. The institution will drain the life right out of you. It isn't worth it, run!
