Pros

There are so few pros, that they aren't worth mentioning.

Cons

Poor leadership continues, since the Board brought in a new president (which, of course, is the same board that installed the last president, Kylanne Green) who has allowed himself to be fooled by the most dysfunctional Executive Team members there. Why he listens to them, when the employee survey made it clear that they are an incompetent and toxic group people is beyond me. Turnover is high throughout the organization, and there's a reason for that. Don't be fooled yourself by the lies they tell you and the excuses they make for people leaving - either quitting or getting fired. With incompetent and/or bad leaders on the Executive Team, who are fighting and bickering and finger pointing and making bad decisions, the toxicity moves down into the staff and distrust permeates the culture of this organization. Sadly, some very nice people who are hard workers at the staff level get the raw end of the deal because they get used, abused and burned out. (Glassdoor needs updating because Kylanne Green is no longer the president of URAC). By the way, you see this photo that URAC is using for their company page on Glassdoor? You'd think you are looking at a photo of URAC employees, right? There are no URAC employees in that photo. The photo was taken at a Telemedicine Magazine party that URAC hosted during an ATA conference, and those people were attendees at that conference who came to the party.

URAC’s leadership constantly seeks feedback from employees to improve our workplace environment, communication and leadership effectiveness so all employees can contribute to their maximum potential. URAC continuously strives to meet the expectations of each employee. Regarding the referenced photo, it was uploaded from an image found on the internet by Glassdoor’s Content Build Team to enhance our site without prior knowledge or discussion with URAC. There was no attempt on the part of URAC to create a false impression that these were employees. It is unfortunate that you deem your experience was not positive. We wish you well in your career.

Save Yourself the Headache

Pros

Do you like empty promises? Do you like below market pay? Do you enjoy a company unwilling to boost employee morale? Do you enjoy having someone else take credit for your work? Do you like favoritism/nepotism? Do you like dysfunction and group think? Do you like being undermined and demeaned? Do you like low key sexism/bigotry? If you've answer Yes to the questions above, then this is a great place for you!!!

Cons

There is lack of leadership and accountability within this organization that will leave any dedicated employee feeling dejected. The new CEO while personable has shown very little divisiveness, given no direction, and can't seem to go a day without talking about himself and his family. Additionally, many at executive level are allowed to skirt their responsibilities as leaders of the organization and treat employee as subhuman contributing the terrible morale. The organizations strategic goals all relate to sales and product development so those who do not work in those areas have no alignment in there day to day activities with the corporate strategy. Salaries are below market for all except for the executive team who seem to make an absurd amount for the level of unprofessionalism and incompetence they display. The benefits are fair, telelwork was recently implemented but it is at your managers discretion, the organization is top heavy and provides no room for growth.

URAC’s leadership team is tasked with achieving our corporate goals and many are targeted to ensure the financial health of the organization. URAC also conducts compensation benchmarking analysis every two years to ensure we remain competitive. Our salaries meet or exceed the current market so we remain competitive in our total compensation offerings.

Things Have Gotten Worse

Pros

Pros: Telework one day a week for salaried employees (some people get two depending on your manager but a few are too concerned with micro-managing and wanting to be controlling rather than doing their own jobs so this policy unfortunately is not equally applied to all). The health and retirement benefits are pretty good. Most people at the staff level work hard to ensure clients and external parties' needs are met.

Cons

Overall, there is an overwhelming lack of accountability for anything that produces a less than desirable result. There is a strong lack of communication and this ‘us’ (executive team) vs ‘them’ (staff) mentality. In addition, the organization is very flat so there is minimal room for career growth. The executive team will often make a decision that impacts staff (who are responsible for executing said decision) yet, staff aren’t included in the decision making process or even informed about the decision until a random email. When staff opinions are sought after it's more so for "show" rather than their opinions being valid. We did a whole entire employee survey at the beginning of the year which spoke to how poor the culture at URAC is and the executive team was supposed to come up with a plan to start working on things. Nothing has happened. They even refused to share whatever plan they had come up with (if they came up with one at all) to staff. Given that staff are the ones who have expressed dissatisfaction, you would think they would want to get staff feedback regarding whatever they are doing to try to move URAC forward to ensure that it is actually addressing the key issues staff raised in the first place. The new CEO is more concerned with being liked instead of leading. He tends to attribute the current state of things to something that was created under the former CEO instead of recognizing that he has enabled things to get worse by further elevating people who cause the most problems. While the former CEO had her own way of doing things, she had the respect of most people in the organization because of her ability to lead. This is no longer true. This organization’s leadership team (including some directors in the account and client services team) is full of micromanagers. There are very smart people on staff but they can’t even do their jobs without being bogged down by the unnecessary drama. Fringe benefits: Generally, the salaries of everyone outside of the executive team (who make hundreds of thousands of dollars and can’t even navigate SharePoint properly) are below market average. If you want to get paid a decent wage be prepared to negotiate. Also, the education stipend is rather low which leaves minimal room for professional growth.

Although some staff members would like to be updated on the Executive Team’s progress regularly, updates are sent out when it is appropriate, typically every quarter.
