Pros

Healthcare plan and free drinks/coffee....that's it

Cons

Tendency to hire "friends" from other companies (i.e. Hitachi) over outside hires that bring in practical experience. General arrogance due to past successes precluded future contract wins. It was very hard to overcome decades of relationships when the executive team valued those over good guidance/advice and hard work from the few outside hires they did. Common theme was "ViON is the place for former Hitachi execs to go when they retire".

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and experience at ViON. We value your feedback and constantly strive to make ViON the employer of choice. Of course, our perspective of ViON is a little different from yours. It is true that we have hired a number of individuals from Hitachi over our 37 years in business. It is also true that ViON has a strong track record of hiring employees’ through our Employee Referral Program. We are very pleased that so many of our employees’ think ViON is such a great place that they refer so many colleagues to us.

Pros

Has the trappings to be a great company. Had been a great company in the past.

Cons

Retirement of senio leadership has the company in a tail spin. Poorly executed sale of company has forced lay off after lay off. Money wasted in product development areas where tech learned is never shared with rest of the company unless by accident.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and experience at ViON. We value your feedback and constantly strive to make ViON the employer of choice. Of course, our perspective of ViON is a little different from yours. ViON has been a great company for our 37 years in business and remains a great company today. We feel this is reflected in our consistent recognition as one of the best places to work in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. The Washington Post recognized us in 2017 and 2016. The Washington Business Journal recognized us in 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, and 2008. In terms of retirements, our Executive Leadership team has been in place for a number of years. ViON’s President and CEO, Tom Frana, has been leading the company consistently since 1992. Additionally, your comment about layoff after layoff is terribly misguided.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and experience at ViON. We value your feedback and constantly strive to make ViON the employer of choice. Of course, our perspective of ViON is a little different from yours. While Company leadership was very candid about a possibility of a sale, that did not come to fruition. ViON’s Three Pillar strategy is very clear and has been communicated consistently throughout the business.
