Supervisors will coach and counsel associates to correct errors. Co-workers are friendly and encouraging while new hires strive to learn the methods and know-how of forging steel. There is a lot to learn about, including but not limited to, hydraulics, pnuematics, steel receiving, chemistry, shipping, quality and much more.
Cons
The forging process requires steel to be heated to very high temperatures, up to 2,300 F. In the summer months, the work environment can be very hot. The forging process requires use of lubricants; graphite is used as a lubricant which is black and dirty. The take away: be prepared to go home dirty. Shower facilities are available!
