Mr Vinod Sood, MD, Hughes Systique, chaired a session on ‘What makes mentoring work?’ at the recently concluded TiECon Delhi – 2022. The panel comprised of leaders from different sectors, as they discussed the various aspects involved when it comes to mentoring, especially, in the context of startups. Mr Sood initiated the conversation by laying down the true meaning of the word ‘mentor’ and elaborated upon the many hats that a mentor to an entrepreneur adorns. He also expounded upon the mentor-mentee relationship, in which both the individuals stand to gain something, whether tangible or intangible. Mr Sood while describing an ideal mentor said, “A mentor is a true balancing force who guides, supports, motivates, alleviates self-doubt & gives hope. He/she is a devil’s advocate at times and a believer on other occasions. At times, a hard task master who helps to realize the full potential of the mentee to ensure that the mentee, her offering and her start up are robust enough to storm challenges that are thrown at them and that they grow to be a flourishing business."

On March 8, 2022, we shared and celebrated the success stories of Women. This International Women's Day, we at HSC broadened the scope of "the conversation" and invited male members to be a part of the panel discussion and the event. Mr Vinod Sood, MD, Hughes Systique, set the tone for the discussion with his inspiring opening speech. He shared some encouraging real-life stories and emphasised that no challenge is too big for women in this day and age. Mr Sood also added that not just limiting to Women’s Day but, at HSC, equal opportunity & gender parity is well integrated & practiced in our day-to-day conversations & operations. Discussing, the theme for the year "Breaking the Bias", our panel included members representing different departments and values. Our female panellists, Ms. Smita Pandey Mishra, founder of Fandoro, & Ms Harpreet Kaur, Chief Engineer at HSC and sharing the perspective of the other side, Mr. Tarun Singhal, Vice President – Engineering and Mr Rohit Kumar Sahu, AVP Human Resources, Hughes Systique, also joined in the discussion.
At the recently concluded The Leadership Summit 2022, Mr Vinod Sood, MD, Hughes Systique, spoke on the relevant topic of “Changing the paradigm from Survival of the Fittest to Survival of the Kindest”. Mr Sood began his talk by establishing a definition of the term ‘Compassionate Leadership’ - the ability to do difficult things in a human way and the need for more compassionate leaders. He delved into the positive impacts of Compassionate leadership on teams. Mr Sood then shared a few tips from his own experience in creating the culture of ‘Survival of the kindest’ at HSC and also explained in brief on how to make the concept of compassionate leadership work like. Mr Sood’s closing statement, “Leading with compassion builds resilience, fosters team-spirit, boosts engagement, enhances collaboration & performance and contributes to lower levels of staff turnover. It also removes barriers, reduces conflicts, creates confidence in place of fear and cultivates a work environment where employees experience psychological safety and feel a greater sense of commitment to their organization."
Mr. Vinod Sood , MD, Hughes Systique, joined a panel of Industry leaders for a session on ‘Emerging Opportunities for Indian Enterprises in the New World Order’ at CII’s DX Summit 3.0. He highlighted how technology is “becoming all pervasive and is getting integrated in all aspects of the enterprise right from enhancing the customer experience, redesigning and reconfiguring business processes and operations to make them more optional, efficient and friction free”. Mr Sood shed light on how India’s prowess in tech combined with the large tech talent pool would be beneficial to the country and help India to shape the next decade. He further added that Digitalization would have a far-reaching impact on society in the long run-in bringing efficiency and transparency. In his final comments, Mr Sood said, “The future will be driven by a digital ecosystem of companies, Tech adoption is the way ahead and it throws a lot of opportunities for service providers who understand the power of software to help enable businesses to become digital first”.
