Festive fervour kicks off at HSC with Diwali Luncheon for Third Party Support Staff at HSC! Tables were set, the feast was being prepared and the staff at HSC were cracking their knuckles for a quick game of tambola! With Diwali just around the corner, a special celebratory afternoon was organized for the Third Party Support Staff, the backstage workers & the lifeline of every facility. Staff from Housekeeping, Maintenance, Security & Horticulture along with drivers, and office boys, got some time to relax and loosen themselves up a bit this fine Saturday afternoon, where they shared smiles, wins & losses, dance moves and got to make merry with their friends. The Cafeteria was decorated beautifully with Diwali decorations, signaling how the afternoon was planned for our colleagues. While it is easy to lose focus when it comes to celebration and miss out on wishing those few who matter but not here at HSC!
HSCian, Mr. Amit Gupta, Asst. Vice President- Engineering, was invited as a Key Panellist at CII’s Future Tech 2021 to speak on AI – Neural Network Conference which was held virtually on 25th October 2021. The theme of the conference was “Driving technologies for building the future, we all can trust” and panellists at this virtual conference addressed to the growing conversations around “The Future of Data”. Mr Gupta stressed “on the need for a mature ecosystem for a strong collaboration among Enterprises and the Government to build a federated anonymized data repository for a smoother AIfication and AI industrialisation”. He also shared insights about the latest research in the unsupervised learning domain to create labelled data set using a small set of labelled data and thus reducing the dependency on creating huge-labelled data repositories and enabling accelerated pace in innovation and adoption of AI.

The initiation of a promising journey! Professional Journey for a select few promising engineering graduates began with their onboarding at HSC in July - August 2021. The new hires went through a month-long training wherein they were trained and mentored to transition into creative engineering minds and readied to become active contributors to the projects they are assigned to. Not only are they mentored for their technology up-skilling, but a great amount of emphasis is also laid on imparting thorough understanding of the value system, ethics & culture at HSC. An extension of this was a “Movie Making Challenge” where in the freshers were to ideate, create and enact in a movie about one of the Core Values of HSC in groups of threes. The process educated them about the core values of Fairness, Respect, Openness, Trust & Honesty. Next was their Meet & Greet Session with HSC’s Managing Director, Mr Vinod Sood, during which he talked about the legacy that HSC carries, the journey of Hughes & HSC in India and the enabling culture & work environment at HSC .

Vinod Sood, Managing Director, Hughes Systqiue chaired a panel discussion on “Enabling Co-Innovation between Industry and Academia – What has Worked/Not worked, Challenges and Roadmap Ahead” Said deliberation was a part of the workshop organized by IEEE Delhi on “Industry-Academia Collaboration With Focus on Research and Innovation” on Sep 25, 2021. Mr. Sood highlighted the role played by knowledge and innovation in nation’s economy & how several nations like the US & UK are reaping direct and powerful economic output from their university systems. Explaining the Indian context, he said that though Industry and Academia are two disparate entities with their contrasting features, neither can survive in isolation.
