General Summary:
The Multimedia Audio Systems and Algorithm Development team is looking for a Lab Support Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in hardware bring-up, rework, and deep troubleshooting of complex board-level systems.
In this role, you will work closely with hardware, software, and algorithm teams to enable prototype development, platform stabilization, and issue resolution across multimedia audio use cases. The position requires strong ownership in board rework, fault isolation, and end-to-end debugging to support product development and commercialization.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hardware bring-up for new platforms, including base rework, component mounting, validation, and initial functional testing
- Execute complex board-level reworks (trace modifications, component replacements)
- Drive end-to-end troubleshooting including power, signal integrity, audio path, and thermal issues
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement fixes/workarounds
- Enable and maintain platforms such as RDP, MTP, CDP, QRD, EVMs, emulators
- Upgrade boards with revisions, chip swaps, and module integrations
- Support validation (thermal, acoustic, electrical testing)
- Work across HW/SW teams for system-level debug
- Ensure ESD/EHS compliance
- Manage lab assets and equipment
Required Skillset
Hardware Rework & Lab Expertise
- Precision PCB rework (multi-layer boards)
- Hands-on with soldering tools, reflow stations, microscopes
- Ability to independently perform full board rework cycles
Troubleshooting & Debugging
- Strong debugging at board/system level
- Power, digital interface (I2C/SPI/I2S/UART), analog/mixed-signal debugging
- Root cause analysis and failure replication
Test & Measurement
- Experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers
- Audio analyzers (APx), signal generators
- Data capture and analysis
Platform Knowledge
- Familiarity with embedded platforms (RDP, CDP, MTP, QRD, EVMs)
- Basic understanding of audio systems and multimedia pipelines
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics
- 1–3 years of experience in hardware lab support, rework, and troubleshooting
