Does Chevron offer massages?
Pros
- Chevron encourages its employees to build a network within the company and improve their leadership skills. It also has a lot of company events and meetings. Thus, you'll be able to develop soft skills essential for an IT professional such as communication, collaboration and leadership. - You are guaranteed to work with people from different countries around the world. - Travel opportunities, but it will depend on the team/project you'll be assigned to. - A respectful work culture that promotes diversity and inclusion. - There is room for career growth in the sense that you can choose to move around different roles within the company. - Chevron prioritizes work-life balance for its employees. - Mandatory WFH for 1 day every week. - Lots of freebies and food in company events. Free delicious coffee in the office.
Cons
- If you're a software developer/engineer and want to focus on building your technical skills, then this is not the company for you. In my case, there were a lot of "routine" IT work, endless meetings and business discussions that just didn't have anything to do with developing and maintaining software. - Too much company bureaucracy and red tape. For example, if you needed access to a database, you have to get approvals and wait for days. This just kills productivity. - Night meetings are expected if you are assigned to a team with US counterparts, which is likely. - Slow promotion. - Oil industry is volatile, so there can be unexpected changes in the workplace.

Cons
But certain business unit does not practice what the company preaches on D&I, worklife balance - it depends on the one leading the team. Certain Supervisor micromanages the team. Not much of internal career opportunities though, disappointed

Does Chevron have a pension plan?
Pros
work life balance, pay, pension, flex time, 9/80s
Cons
poor career development, politics, un-interested middle management
Advice to Management
The re-org & transformation towards an Agile org was a strong vision from the CEO Mike Wirth, that was meant to make Chevron competitive in the challenging future for the Oil & Gas industry. However, it was poorly executed as it was nothing but a numbers game for the CIO Bill Braun & his Leadership Team. 1. New job positions were published with generic copy n paste Job Descriptions & Selection Criteria, i.e. 100s of jobs that were completely different had the same JD & SC 2. Many of the positions were filled with complete unqualified people who did not remotely met the JD or SC, i.e. Project Managers landed in Architect roles, Architects landed in Financial roles, Financial Analysts landed in IT Developer roles 3. The selection was mostly based on who you new, not what you knew. Many talented people, who did not play politics, were released and the resulting new org was left with less than talented people who did not have a clue as to what was required in their new positions 4. CIO Bill Braun has poor command of the org and is disconnected with ground reality 5. From an IT perspective, not a very challenging environment, lack of growth and development
