Some amazing people, but pay is below average and the culture can be toxic sometimes

      Business outlook

      Pros

The people I met there became some of my best friends. There are a lot of opportunities to socialize and meet people from across the whole office. Every month there is a big party to celebrate the success of the company and awards are given to the best-performing consultants. However, excessive drinking is not uncommon and that can lead to a very alcohol-centered culture. Another benefit they outline is the training for interns. There are several full-time training sessions which can be quite helpful.

      Cons

First of all, the pay is significantly below what some of the other agencies would pay, and the commission structure, especially for interns, is not great either. You are held to the same standard as full-time recruitment consultants and you can even work harder than some of them, but still be paid significantly less in both base salary and commission. However, that also allows you to learn more, I guess, but at some point, the work becomes extremely dull and repetitive. The level of staff turnover is insane, even among senior staff. Literally half the people I started working with at the beginning of my internship were not there when I left. The internal system is also very outdated and lacks the necessary data to operate effectively sometimes. However, the company is actively working on that, which is a positive. Finally, the culture can be very toxic sometimes, and I have heard of several cases where people got harassed at the workplace, even by more senior staff. I have to highlight that not everyone was like that. Most people were very nice and polite. It is just that some people probably feel very entitled because of their position and know that not much can happen if they do something wrong. Also, the internship is structured in such a way that you do not get any commission on placements that begin during your notice period or after your internship has ended. And since most candidates you would work with have at least 1 to 3 months of notice period, this means that any work you do in the last 3 to 4 months of your internship will most likely not be eligible for commission.

      Great Work place, great culture

      Pros

Training & Development: structured onboarding and ongoing training programs, especially for new consultants. Career Progression: There are clear paths for advancement, with opportunities to move into senior roles or specialise in different sectors. Team Culture: a collaborative and supportive team environment, with managers who are invested in your success. Commission & Incentives: For high performers, the commission structure can be rewarding, and there are recognition programs for achievements Pay/Rewards are marketing leading Work/Life balance is Excellent

      Cons

To be honest, I haven't found any Cons with Hays as a business. Recruitment itself can be tough, but as long as you are resilient, highly driven and thrive in fast paced environments, you will succeed.
