What is the salary like at Uline?

      Uline reviews

Good benefits and decent pay which is required to offset the negatives

      Warehouse manager
      Former employee
      Pleasant Prairie, WI
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

good pay, better than average benefits, clean facility and steady work from a very stable company

      Cons

The micro-management at this company is unbelievable. Monitored times warehouse employees are allowed in bathrooms, clock in and out for lunch breaks, constant hovering at all times. If you like to be watched and controlled you will love it here.

      A cult with good benefits

      Business outlook

      Pros

Great benefits, good pay for entry level, and great amenities.

      Cons

The company has a very toxic cult-like environment. 45 hour clock in/out minimum, even when you are salary. The micromanagement is on another level. You are only promoted based on hours, not merit. So much red tape. They try to trap you here so you never have enough experience to leave. There is no diversity. I am not exaggerating when I say this is a cult.

Great pay , micromanaging at the extreme

      Department manager
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Great company , very good pay for the work . They take care of their employees, profit sharing is great . You can definitely make a lot of money here. Also a great work environment. Very clean , and good people.

      Cons

Micromanaging is an understatement, it seems like there is some kind of manager for every 3 or 4 employees , getting information is tough because someone always has to ask someone else . As a manger you have very little “say” in your department, you are constantly being told how to run your department.

Thank you for your review. We’re proud to be a growing company, but it sure does get busy sometimes. Especially, when we’re trying to fulfill orders by 6 p.m. for next day delivery to our customers. When you’re feeling stressed, we encourage employees to be sure they’re taking advantage of Uline’s wellness programs and talk with your manager about scheduling PTO.

The pay is not worth it

      Anonymous employee
      Current employee

      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

End of the year profit sharing bonus (this is literally it)

      Cons

-Intense, pedantic micromanagement that leaves you unmotivated and constantly anxious -Useless HR and management system which exists to protect other managers and the ULINE bureaucracy instead of employees -Arbitrary and random rule changes that exist only to create an illusion of progress which adds more employee paranoia (seriously, half the management in this company is precisely this) -Diligent and hard working employees get taken advantage of, while bad employees will get switched around (sometimes to a better position at the expense of a good worker) unpunished -Injects politics into everything from lunch-ins to company policy -Claims to be conservative but cares nothing about work-life balance or even offers paternal leave so both parents can be present in their child’s life -Overstated benefits. The pay is slightly above average hourly for whatever position you’re in, but the high pay is from insane required overtime. The end of the year bonus is the only tangible upgrade compared to any other job, but the sacrifices you’ll have to make physically and mentally are not worth it. -They expect the world despite giving you limited resources -Employees targeted by random shadowing days or job changes -The opportunity for growth is another overstated benefit. There a few times the company doesn’t hire someone outside with little to no experience for management positions.

Thank you for your review. We’re disappointed to hear that you don’t feel you are experiencing a healthy work/life balance. While hard work and hustle are valued and rewarded, we take pride in providing professional development opportunities and progressive career tracks to help our teams succeed together. If you need a break from work, we encourage employees to talk with their manager about scheduling PTO. The political leanings of Uline founders as private citizens does not represent the more than 9,000 employees who come to work from diverse backgrounds and experiences. We continue to work hard to foster an inclusive work environment for all of our employees.
