Does Union Pacific offer relocation assistance?

Pros

The pay, pensions, 401(k), etc were all good. The corridor management level directly above me was also pretty solid, all things considered. But that’s it.

Cons

The benefit package (aside from pay and retirement) is terrible. Top level management is jaw droppingly detached from reality. Just incredibly asinine and cutthroat. All the while praising PSR for maximizing shareholder value while it eats us alive. Every day is an epic cluster. Nothing works in the field because they fired all the employees that maintained power and cars. Zero train movement is commonplace. Morale is nonexistent. The culture is soulless. They’ll walk 110 dispatchers out the door and combo all the territories then wonder why the remaining desks are completely shut down. There is hardly any advancement opportunity. I can’t say it was ever great there, but good lord The last year or two I was there they pulled out all the stops and began screwing everyone over as hard as they possibly could. When I quit it was the best thing I ever did.

Advice to Management

Precision scheduled railroading is an awful thing that has gutted the company and you all know it. Stop lying. Also stop being 1-dimensional non-critical thinkers.

The benefit package (aside from pay and retirement) is terrible.

Does Union Pacific offer massages?

Pros

Free bottled water and ice.

Cons

No future for agreement employees. Took cost of living raises away. Health insurance no longer free. Very low employee moral.etc

Advice to Management

Congratulations you've ruined everything good about this company.

Does Union Pacific offer dental insurance?

Pros

Good pay, if Union, good medical coverage.

Cons

If Union, you are not treated well at all. Forced to work double shifts constantly because they have cut staff so short and/or employees don’t show up to work. Took 8 years to get 3 weeks of vacation. They force you to schedule one week if it in nov/dec for the next year instead of. Ring able to schedule it all at a later time or at singles days. Union contract gives you 10 sick days. You need a note to get them excused but now they won’t take your notes and they only allow for per year. It’s a mess! They change the rules to their benefit constantly. Never work here! Too many jobs out there that pay well and respect their employees!

Good pay, if Union, good medical coverage.

Does Union Pacific have a pension plan?

Pros

Some really good employees and used to have some good Forman

Cons

Almost everything, management is always out to get you, they get their jollies off on punishment and termination. They will lay you off, bring you back, and lay you off again with absolutely zero regard to how that affects you and your family. Your union griever actually works for the company do the unions are among the weakest in the country. Competitively your pension, pay, Healthcare package, and quality of life is dismal compared to other real unions. The management will almost constantly lie to your face about required production levels and how your crew is performing. You will constantly be worried about if you will have a job the next day.

Advice to Management

Stop being the most greedy group of scum in the continental United States. You guys should publicly apologize for the blight you've put on your employees, both present and past, with worrying every single day of their gonna have to come home and tell their wife they won't have a job in 5 days. You guys should either have the integrity to care for your employees, who really runs that company, or walk out and leave with your multi-million dollar pension we gave you

Competitively your pension, pay, Healthcare package, and quality of life is dismal compared to other real unions.

Does Union Pacific offer parental leave?

Pros

Seeing cultural shift across organization including IT where there is sense of renewed energy, positivity. Company has made a lot of benefit changes over last year - pay uplift, up to 9% 401k match, stock purchase plans 40% match, better paternity and maternity leave and many others.

Cons

While there is investment in people we have , we are still under invested in headcount we need more people!

Advice to Management

Get more people! We need it as we grow
