I recently interviewed for a role and left feeling discouraged by the overall tone of the conversation. During the interview, I was directly told that the company planned to interview another candidate because they felt I may not have enough experience, and that they would “let me know” afterward if they wanted to proceed. While I understand companies compare candidates, presenting it this way felt unnecessarily dismissive and unprofessional.
The interviewer also shared that they had fired someone within two weeks for not meeting expectations, which created an uncomfortable atmosphere and raised concerns about onboarding, management style, and company culture. I believe candidates should be treated with professionalism and respect throughout the hiring process, regardless of fit.
