      Consultant Interview

      27 Mar 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Los Angeles, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at 8020 Consulting (Los Angeles, CA) in Nov 2013

      Interview

Met with the 3 principal leaders of the Company. To understand what types of clients you would be able to work on, they ask you very detailed questions about all the various aspects of your employment background. It was a very detailed interview process from this respect. I was also asked about my professional credentials and contact people I knew in the Los Angeles market as potential referrals and clients.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

When I mentioned a particular complex problem that I had solved at a former employer, I was asked if I had identified it.

      Consultant Interview

      29 Sept 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at 8020 Consulting in Sept 2015

      Interview

I was referred by a current 8020 Consulting consultant. The interview process took about a little less than a month, and it was one of the most professionally and strategically conducted interviews I’ve had in the last 15 years. I first spoke with Erin Youel on the phone. Her screening process was very intuitive and natural. She was very well-spoken, polite, and direct to the point. She coordinated all my interviews and was very prompt with her responses. My phone interview was followed by in-person interviews with the three primary leaders of the company (in different times/days, in order) Kelly Patchett (with Erin), Shawn Spears, and David Lewis. All my interviewers were very pleasant to talk to, genuine, intelligent, very knowledgeable of the business, high integrity, and focus/driven. The interviewers informed me of what the position entailed, the type of clients, the duration, the skillsets they believe essential to be successful in the consulting world and, more importantly, the expectations as a consultant. They were extremely informative and asked many questions not only about my technical skills but who I was as a person to make sure I fit the dynamic of the company. I was very inspired, encouraged, and looked forward to the next process after each interview.

      Consultant Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at 8020 Consulting (Los Angeles, CA) in Mar 2015

      Interview

Phone screen first, followed by a series of three (separate) in person interviews with each of the three partners. I happened to pass all four 'stages' and received an offer a few days after the final interview. Overall the process seems to come down to two items - having a deep finance or accounting skillset and being able to talk intelligently about the specific work done at prior employers. Overall pleasant experience although the partners will ask very surgical questions about your background so be ready to speak concretely about every line in your CV.

      Consultant Interview

      30 Jul 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at 8020 Consulting

      Interview

Had me drive all over from Woodland Hills to all over Greater LA multiple times for an hour interview each time. David Lewis (CEO) has ADD and is extremely hard to speak to - from looking all over the place and checking out waitresses to his frantic demeanor. He is also a bit arrogant. Couldn't really elaborate on why the company is special compared to others. Interview 1: met with Kelly Patchett who was decent to speak with. Went over my background and how it would fit with the company. Interview 2: met with David Lewis and spent 20 minutes talking about my background, and then spent the remaining 40 minutes answering questions. Questions asked ranged from "why would you be a good consultant" to general background questions. Interview 3: I was asked to meet with David Lewis again. This interview was not actually an interview, rather it was a forum for me to ask more questions. I was dinged after the third interview...how was I dinged after literally asking questions the whole time, which were thorough, thoughtful questions....your guess is as good as mine.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Was asked very minimal questions about myself. Basic questions: why would you be a good consultant.
